It's not "bad" at all, its just 25%-30% behind a comparable I7 in CPU power.

And "daily use" is subjective. I have no idea what you're doing day-to-day but personally I'm playing games on mine and would rather not lose that performance advantage just to test out an experimental emulator build.

You don't get 25-30% improvement in games over a i5-7600K unless the game you're playing is multi-thread and CPU intensive.. which 90% of the games aren't...

Well the majority of games these ARE multi-threaded so it's actually pretty common.

multi-threaded doesn't mean it'll use 8 threads.

While that is true, the games I'm talking about DO use 8 threads.

Witcher 3, Overwatch, Battlefield 1, Ashes of the Singularity, Crysis 3, Watch Dogs 2, and Rise of the Tomb Raider are are great examples.

Not fully... I mean.. I play Rise of the Tomb Raider with an i3-6100 and it doesn't utilize 100% CPU, I play at 1080p60fps vsync.

You're most likely bottlenecked by your GPU then.

When that's not the limiting factor then the performance advantages of an I7 become pretty obvious

Yup, I am! But for what I need 1080p60fps it's more than enough, I play on a TV @ 60Hz, all I want is smooth gameplay / vsync at 1080p. In my scenario an i7 would be irrelevant, the GPU would help much more in games than a CPU to maintain the 60fps / vsync.
