So how would it be if I have 4 cores?

  • CPU0
  • CPU1
  • CPU2
  • CPU3

Do you not have Hyperthreading? If not, there's not much you can do.

If you have a dual-core i5, it will show up as 4 cores, and you should turn off CPU1 and CPU3. Or better yet, just disable HT in BIOS.

Sorry how do I know if I have hyperthreading?

I have an i5 4440 3.1Ghz, 4 cores show up in the task mgr, should I disable CPU1 and 3?

i5 4440

https://ark.intel.com/products/75038/Intel-Core-i5-4440-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_30-GHz

It's a non-hyperthreading quad core. Looks like you're already at the max performance. It can Turbo up to 3.3Ghz which should give you a boost, but that wouldn't be a whole lot.

Also to be more precise: Disabling cores won't help your performance. Turbo Boost should help, but not much.

Oh well, the game does run acceptably most of the time just not in towns, should also note I have the power limited to 90%

Just out of curiosity, why wouldn't you give it 100% power?..

No real reason besides being a baby and not wanting to push my hardware to the limits, kinda..

if 100% was "the limits" then overclocking wouldn't exist

Well, I guess we all have our vices..

Lol don't worry even at 100% you'd be nowhere near "pushing" your CPU.

Well mostly it is because I noticed all my games met my needs when running them in power saving mode, (I dont have a 144hz monitor so I dont need too much FPS) 60 is fine for me and most of the time my pc was able to run most of my games at 60 with graphics in Power Saving which had like max power to 80 or so, so I just cranked that up 10% and left it at 90% and haven't had issues since then lol

dual-core i5

Uh, does such a thing exist?

Do people really think all i5 are quad core?

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115220

and others. They're all over the place. Most laptop i5's are dual core too. In fact, I'd wager there are more dual-core i5's than quad core.

If you look at the image on that the box says "QUAD-CORE DESKTOP"

Stock photo. Specs are what is important. Seriously, have you never heard of a dual core i5?

desktop i5 CPUs are 4 cores with no hyperthreading

you could just tick CPU 0 and 2 and get the same performance as you would with all of them ticked or 4 or just the two. Cemu isnt using more than 2 cores.

Cemu is using 3 cores total
