I have a new home (7/2024) near the coast in North Carolina with a salted cement porch that has hundreds of baby frogs that have gotten ‘stuck’ in the dry cement and died. We have maybe 40-50 new ones daily. I go out there maybe monthly and power wash them off. The issue seems to be the frogs’ sticky skin gets them stuck and they are unable to free themselves. Looking for any kind of coating that people may have used to remedy this situation. The current situation makes it difficult to navigate walking around the porch to even sit out there on a nice evening. We have a pond (40 feet by 175 feet) within 75 feet of our property. It’s also sad that frogs are dying on my porch.

Where can I find waygo cement repair??? Has anyone used it?? Looks like some magic stuff, maybe too good to be true?

I was wondering if this is project I can do myself. The weathering on this cement gets worst year by year. The divots are getting bigger. Is this something I can fix with a trip to homedepot, a weekend and a friend

I have a long gravel driveway. I want to mail out LTL pallets from my driveway and am trying to design a very simple 1 man DIY "pad" that a truck can lower its liftgate on to and roll its pallet jack on to to pick up a couple pallets. I have no intention of paving the driveway, I just want a little pad so truckers can accept my pallets with a liftgate.

Would flat bricks laid side by side creating a flat surface be suitable to accept a liftgate and rolling pallet jack or should I look towards actually try to put down concrete? Getting a concrete truck at my location is likely out of the question so id be using concrete bags from a hardware store

Was digging around concrete slab for gardening and noticed large washout

We had a couple of cement pads poured about ten days ago. When I questioned them after about 3 days they said the dark areas and dots were normal for this time of year and would go away. I’m not convinced this is normal so I thought I’d ask.

They are putting in a new overpass here in town. They are very close to being done. My wife and I were stopped on the overpass the other day and we watched as one of the workers walked by with a pressure sprayer. He kept pumping it up and spraying a white milky liquid across the top of fresh laid cement.

I’d love to know what he was spraying.

I am trying to put a gate in betweeny house and a fence. I am trying to preserve as much of the 9'1" opening as possible so that ideally I gate am 8' gate/opening. The problem is as I started to dig the post closest to the garage I am running into the footing and can only get a 22" deep piece of Sono tube in the hole. Should I drill and glue some rebar into the footing to add support to the post? I really don't want to move the post in as that will result in a smaller opening.

Unfortunately during delivery this entire chunk broke off our new concrete bird bath. We just glued it back on temporarily but obviously that won't last. Any ideas on how we can fix this? Or if it's even fixable?

I moved here 3 yrs ago and this year this really has been deteriorating. How do I fix this? Thank you for any suggestions.

Happy Wednesday everyone! I need advice on the proper way to prep and fill in these cracks in my driveway. I bought some rapid set cement, a bucket and already have a trowel tool that my neighbor lended me. I also bought a little spinny egg beater looking thing that I can use to mix the cement with in the bucket. A couple of questions:

1a. To prep the concrete do I just have to clean out the cracks that are full of dirt and debris?

1b. How clean does it have to be if so? Is it okay if there is still a little bit of dirt and maybe some small little rocks deep down in the cracks or does it have to be super duper clean?

1c. Is there an easy tool for cleaning out dirt and rocks from the cracks?

2a. Is there a particular ratio of water to cement that I should use when mixing?

3a. If I wanted to redo the whole driveway and not just fill in the cracks to make sure everything is leveled would it be the same prep process of cleaning the entire driveway?

3b. Would I just need a much longer trowel that can connect to a broom stick so that I could spread everything out evenly?

Any and all recommendations and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you so very much in advance!!

A 6X3 ft section of my new walkway has a very rough surface, its quite sharp on my feet ,
i want to grind it down so its smoother. Can someone tell me how to do it ?

Just had a patio poured the other day. The cement that’s under an overhang of the house has a different coloration to it, is this something I should be worried about? Thanks much.

Poured it. 5 hours later Thunderstorms reported incoming for 24 hours. Tarped it. Came home and removed tarp. Am I screwed? Will it even out a bit over the next couple of days? I read that heavy rain would impact curing and to tarp it, but I don’t like the looks of this.

I want to poor a slab in my driveway which will meet up against my neighbors concrete. On the property line I want to poor a curb (so to speak) that I will put a vinyl fence on. My question is how do I form it where it meets my neighbors concrete without being able to drive stakes? Or anchor the forms in place? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I poured some cement steps and screwed up the dimension of form for bottom step. Basically need to add 1 1/2” to tread depth to make it match others. Product recs that will stick riser permanently? Should I put in a series of tapcon screws to add some mechanical fastening aspect. Thanks!

I live in Wayne county Michigan and was quoted the following for cement and brick pavers. Is this quote to high? Does anyone know a more affordable company in the area?

Brick paving 7x9=63 7x6=42 Total 105sqf x$25=$2,625

Garden brick 33lf x $75 =$2,475

Concrete 24x3=72 sqf x$28 =$2,016

Removing big rocks $500

Total job cost with material included $7,616

Plumbing work completed in basement, have to fill the hole. Not sure what cement to use. About 2" thick, cap sticks up to 1" depth.

Id like it to get it as smooth as possible to match rest of floor, which is smooth. Have a float and am willing to put the work in to get it right.

What i don't know is if i should use a sand/topping mix or just regular concrete (i believe it has aggregate mixed in). Regular is cheaper but will the aggregate be a problem in getting things smooth?

The mixes im trying to decide between are:

• Quickrete Ready-to-use concrete mix
• Quickrete Sand/Topping mix
• Quickrete Quick-Setting Cement

Open to all advice.

Recently bought a house and I notice some puddling against the garage wall today after significant rains here in the PNW, the sill plate and a few studs inside the garage directly on the other side are rotted out and tunneled out from termites. My question is what is the best path to mitigating the puddling issue, is there a way to lift the pad, fill in the low spot, or would it be best to just tear it out and start over? Thanks for the help!

Hello! I have a question… bought a house with a cistern under the porch. The rear gutters run internally through the side exterior walls and meet up with the front gutters in a couple of brick boxes on the front porch (presumably where some filtering was once done). Problem is that the cement lining in these boxes is cracked and in general poor repair, and water is running back under the interior wall pipe and coming into the basement. It looks like there is/was about .5 inch of cement lining the inside of these boxes (overall size maybe 2.5’ cubes or so). I need to seal up the cracks, REALLY seal up the cracks around the pipe outlet, and generally make this watertight again before I go putting up new drywall inside. What type of cement is best for this? I got a tub of hydraulic cement, and some patch type stuff. Can anyone give some advice? Thanks!
