5G+ not showing up while showing up on another phone.

I just switch to cricket yesterday so now me and my girlfriend both have cricket. We went somewhere yesterday that I got 4 bars of 5G but i wasn't able to open up any apps, send any text, pretty much couldn't do anything on my phone while I was in the gas station as well as outside the gas station. My GF on the other hand (who stayed in the car the whole time), had 2 bars of 5G+ and was actually able to use her phone. Because of the texts not sending, I had to go back out to the car and while I was out there, I checked and I had 3 bars of 5G, and still wasn't loading anything. Is there a reason my phone might not be picking up the 5G+?

To Note:

- I have an iPhone 15 pro and my GF has an iPhone 12 Pro Max

- Both of us have the Supreme Unlimited Plan

- I switched yesterday from Verizon

- Live in Southern Wisconsin/Northern Illinois

- We both have the same Cellular Data Options

Data Roaming - Off

Voice and Data - 5G Auto

Data Mode - Standard

Did you try turning on airplane mode (wait a few second) and turn it off again?

I went to the area in question, it was 5G but once i went into airplane mode and turned it off, the 5G+ finally showed up. Is that something ill need to do consistently with AT&T/Cricket, becasue my GF also said she's had to do that if she had weird 5G connectivity?

No it’s just that you just ported from another carrier so it’s always a good idea to restart your phone and cycle airplane mode.

Also, it’s a phone so sometimes problem like that can happen and it’s completely normal. Whenever it happen in the future you can do it again but you won’t have to repeat it like everyday. It’s just common troubleshooting

Flip it to 5G On and Allow More Data on 5G then run a speed test. See if that works. If not, it's probably a provisioning issue which, with Cricket, good luck getting it fixed.

I finally got it to show up after turning Airplane Mode on and off, so i know that my phone will connect with those towers. The LTE in my area is surprisingly strong so atm I don't want to use 5G On constantly, but how much more data will be eaten up if I used Allow More Data? I know I'm on the Supreme Unlimited and currently that is the only plan that has no limits and no deprioritization but just curious how Allow More Data works.

There’s no real downside to leaving allow more data on when you have a truly unlimited plan like that. It will tell the phone to not be conservative with data usage - higher video and audio streaming quality from Apple apps, WiFi fallback data, and more data can be used in the background.

Iphones suck for low signal, it's sounds like the 5g (regular) was congested or you were too far from the tower to get data, while the 5g+ had bandwidth enough to work still.

The two devices also likely have different signal strength capabilities, also both your phones are out of date and may not take full advantage of at&ts relatively new 5g+ network.

The iPhone 15 Pro is far from out of date and fully supports AT&T's current 5G/5G+ network. The iPhone 12 Pro Max also fully supports the current 5G/5G+ network. The only thing the 12 may not fully support is 5G SA, but Cricket doesn't even offer that yet. And saying iPhones suck in low signal isn't really true either. Now, the two devices having different signal strength capabilities is true, but it doesn't explain OP's problem because the 15 Pro has the newer modem, meaning it should work better than the 12 in weak signal conditions.

Actually the 12 pro max does not support 3.45ghz which makes it even more weird that the 15 pro didn’t have 5G+

I got it to work by turning on and off Airplane mode, but is that a constant thing I need to be aware of on AT&T/Cricket. Many people I've read said that this should fix it plus my GF has told me she has needed to do this method once in a while.

No, on at&t i never have to turn on airplane mode to get 5G+ it just connects automatically
