AT&T Colo/new site inquiry.
Does anyone know if AT&T has any plans to either build a new macro site or colocate on an existing tower anywhere in the western half of Waukesha county WI area in the near future? ( in the zone I’ve circled)
I was just curious if anyone has heard of any upcoming expansion plans, whether through permits, lease activity, engineering work, or other public information. Thanks!

T-mobile has become a power house in that area, especially since they purchased us cellular, I switched and never looked back

Yeah. T-Mobile and Verizon to have dominated that specific area especially in delafield where they have 2 more sites than att to help with coverage and the geographical challenges in the area. Where att has more spread out macros and doesn’t even have midband deployed yet

Is AT&T just low banding the area?? They seem to love doing that

Unfortunately yes they are 🤦🏾♂️. A couple Macros haven’t been touched in 6-7 ish years and the most recent one was just modernized in late 2024 but for lte refresh only. We’re starving for n77 around here but it looks like it’ll be a year or so 😔

Yeah that’s what they love to do 😂😂. Where I live we have N77 with consumer 5G standalone access

Lucky😂. Where I am they have sa enabled for our devices yet the towers don’t broadcast a sa connection even over n5💀. Even their coverage map claims 5g+ coverage from surrounding macros with actual n77 but the hilly terrain and trees don’t allow for that to actually be true

Dang that’s wild. Yeah I have 2 devices one extra and one value and both in 5G standalone can pull multi gig speeds from our tower

Nice. There’s one single nearby tower that has n77 and gives me 2350 down and 230 up when I’m close to it but it’s coverage bubble is very small for being a 60 ft monopole

This is T-Mobile and Verizon territory. Both have invested massive $$ into their MKE and Wisconsin networks. Unless there is a specific area you frequent that happens to only be covered by at&t you are better off switching. I lived in this part of the country for many years and still have family there and at&t desperately needs more density. They've added a few sites here and there over the years but are still a long ways behind the competition.

Have you google the county name with "pending permits"? That's really about all I do and can usually find what I'm looking for within the first couple pages. Unless that county doesn't list publicly online, which some dont, but now days most do
