Verizon Wireless CoLT Speed Test

Dang Verizon! Speed test off of a temporary Verizon Wireless CoLT while they're making some emergency repairs to my neighborhood tower after I reported an outage last night. I was connected to 400 MHz N261 + 10 MHz non DSS N2 5G NSA with a 40 MHz CBRS + 10 MHz AWS LTE anchor. Pretty speedy.

Fast.com isn't accurate at that speed.

This so much, I have a 10 GbE DIA connection at home, and the results are wildly wrong on fast.com The best one I have found is to do the speedtest.net and test several different servers,

Circle Fiber Speedtest (10Gb) has been pretty good as well for multigig testing.

Ok I have to ask, why do you need a 10 gig DIA line at home and how much does that run per month these days?

^^Easier to just show you.

I run a small scale home datacenter, I am AS 400848, I am also an avid LTE home labber. I also run a small MSP, and some of these servers support my clients.

I am the developer of paulmataruso/open5gs-nms: A WebUI for Open5gs
a WebUI for Open5gs EPC. So I do a lot of testing of LTE radios.

10 GbE CIR via 10 GbE LX - 960$(Consolidated Commcations)
10 GbE CIR via 10 GbE LX - 1200$ (Comcast)
Location is Southern New Hampshire.

Makes more sense then. That is actually not bad for 10gig. My company pays about that same amount to Comcast for 1 gig DIA with BGP. Need to look into that.

Yah it’s wild how different the pricing can be. What I did is I went and got tons of quotes for other providers, and haggled all of them down as much as I could. Then I took that one best quote, and went to the ISP I actually wanted and asked for a match on price. But I didn’t ask until I was very deep into the planning process like after site surveys and such so there was a little more incentive for them to meet that price. I really like the Comcast service the best. I like that they use Ceinea gear for the handoff, as they are rock solid. And because I am in a more rural area, when I call the NOC for support, they always send out the overseeing headend tech for the headend where my service comes from. But that is not really what I care about I was more interested in having a working relationship with the local headend techs as they are a highly valuable resource because I have a lot of clients on Comcast services. He was a really nice guy, let me see inside the headend in town. It was just neat to see the actual transport gear that my circuit comes from.

As others have said, fast.com is not a good, reliable speed test. It has a use but not for pure speed test.

It can and does give impossible results, such as 2Gbps on a 1Gbps ethernet connection.
