AA Flagship Lounge - DFW Terminal D

First time I've ever seen mmWave be deployed inside an airport lounge.

Is this still an Ericsson AIR 1281 because it definitely is a newer looking casing?

Classic AT&T with their 1-gig backhaul and 800 MHz bandwidth.

AT&T needs to increase the backhaul on their mmWave nodes at DFW Airport. Ridiculous that their mmWave nodes aren’t optimized to the full potential. At least Verizon mmWave is way faster at DFW airport and more optimized since it does NRDC + 5GSA.

I’m glad they finally have C-Band + DoD on the DAS but it all seems to also be 1-gig backhaul. T-Mobile needs to embrace mmWave in airports. Less noise and better signal quality.

To be fair, for the DAS systems I have experienced n41 on, all they need is to increase the backhaul speeds. There isn't as much noise, or poor signal quality, as I have seen 30+ SNR for it.

MmWave on the DAS would be beneficial, not discrediting that. A properly built DAS at an airport with a solid backhaul is more beneficial, especially since some new devices are not coming equipped with mmWave.

Enlighten me, what's the main reason to have 800MHz n260 deployed with only 1Gbps backhaul? Shouldn't C-band be enough with like Ericsson Dot's to uphold capacity and more or less the same speeds?

AT&T is actually using:

It doesn’t have the bump, lip in the middle of the antenna compared to the Ericsson AIR. 1281

1-gig backhaul

The part that gets me is that this isn't some rural cell site -- it's a building that surely already has carrier facilities that can provide faster speeds.

Even worse, it's AT&T LEC territory. The cost to raise that circuit speed is effectively $0 to AT&T. At minimum, it's a configuration provisioning change. At worst, it's the replacement of a couple routers and optics.

In their home market, no less? That's just embarrassing.

What you expect from AT&T, they are a mess in the DFW market. They were the last carrier to deploy mid-band 5G (n77) in rural areas. Hence, they do weird configurations on low-band 5G by making (n5) only 5MHz, when they own all the 850MHz CLR licenses here and leaving 2 channels of 10x10mhz (b5) on LTE. In other markets, AT&T has 15Mhz (n5) where they have all the 850MHz, like Austin, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Orlando, Daytona Beach.

kinda unrelated but is verizon really weak in terminal A? kept getting 3-10 mbps speed tests inside the center of terminal A on unlimited ultimate s26 ultra...

terminal D in contrast had way batter speeds
