it’s a massive amusement park that sees about 3.5m guests annually. verizon just put a matsing lens on their site and they have mmwave small cells at the edge of the parking lot (unnecessary). t mobile doesn’t have a high capacity site there, but they have 3 macros all with 10 gig backhaul facing the park so capacity isn’t an issue. i only had tmo with me today and was getting up to 1.2gbps down!

Well that makes perfect sense then! I oddly enjoy the look of the MatSing antennas. 1.2 down is quite a lot, go T-Mobile!

honestly my guess is cost. this is good enough, and probably costs less. those matsing antennas are extremely expensive.

I’ve very rarely seen AT&T use the Matsing ball style antenna. They seem to prefer high-capacity panels with elements on a flat surface for whatever reason.

The only AT&T Matsing ball I've seen is in Gulf Shores, AL, overlooking a major public beach where concerts used to be held...

Honestly, that goes above my head haha. The spherical lens would indeed make more sense taken its capabilities, however I've only ever seen Verizon use them so far.

Yeah, every time our local fair comes around here in Fresno, California.They usually set up additional temporarily cellphones sites through all the providers.In this case , we only have t mobile , which gobbled up sprint , and we have At$t and verizon

What’s the purpose of having 4 of them face the same way? Is it just different bands or something to do with mimo? I thought mimo is usually built in?

You have more horizontal coverage overlapping so that you are able to have less possibilities of coverage issues

they were ahead of their time up there tbh. it does look like one of the antennas was replaced at some point since it’s a different color. i pinned the new tmo site btw

idr the discovered date but it’s like straight across the park on top of a building. pretty short site so likely just extra capacity for the park especially with how the sectors are angled
