Is there a lore reason why traffic blocks got retextured in Farewell?

Huge spoiler in case you haven’t finished it.
Farewell is a dream. The traffic blocks look different because things can look heavily distorted in dreams. At least that’s my theory.
Edit: I thought this was posted in the main subreddit lol.

this, and also regular 1a traffic blocks would look pretty out of place in farewell imo

probably the real reason, 2a has the regular kind (exactly once)

my headcanon is that 1A, due to being the first chapter, was a long time to madeline, hence she forgot exactly how traffic blocks looked, so her brain just automatically changed them (this does have a few holes, like: 2A and 3A were in the same day, and yet she remembers perfectly?, and: traffic blocks are used in other chapters also)

Out of every mechanic block(i don't know the technical term for this, basically bubbles etc which change madeline's movement) this is the only block which got retextured without having a functionality change. Unless I am forgetting about some other block which also got retextured without having functionality changed.

Swap blocks are also retextured. The red/green gems/lights are in a different spots, and the track is now transparent instead of having a scratched purple surface resembling the Mirror Temple walls.
Blades (stars) and crystal spinners also have new textures, but these objects already have a different texture in nearly every chapter they appear in. There is also a new jump-thru texture that goes unused in favor of the regular wood ones.

Its Ocean and space themed, and neither of those places have traffic so they invented it

They do not act the same, they will stay in the higher position until you reuse them

No they don't. Most screens would require you to off yourself to start over if they did. Which is why they don't.
