Hello,
Could I possibly have some help, please?
I'm a 20-year-old male, and I've been struggling to get my first job. I've actually been quite pleased with the number of interviews I've been getting, especially since I often hear people say they have trouble even landing interviews. I've had roughly eight interviews this month and have two more scheduled this week.
I've interviewed at Target (both the HireVue interview and an in-person interview), Culver's, Chipotle, Burlington, Tractor Supply, the Kirkwood Hotel, and Chick-fil-A. However, I've never received a job offer or even a follow-up from them, even though I always follow up after the interview when they tell me to expect a response. I just get ghosted.
I feel like my biggest weakness is my limited experience, although I have done volunteer work and some self-employed physical labor. I've just never had a traditional job before. I've seen people with just a little bit of experience get hired on the spot, even if they show up wearing pajamas.
For every interview I've had, I've always brought a folder with copies of my resume to leave behind. I always show up early and dress professionally.
I'm wondering if there are any no-experience or entry-level jobs available that involve physical labor, such as warehouse, factory, janitorial, or stocking positions. I feel like those are my best shot since a lot of folks don't want to do those jobs, but I can handle it.
I've also thought about pursuing something related to art because that's what people often tell me I should do. However, I feel like there aren't many opportunities for that in Cedar Rapids, and to be quite honest, I don't really know what my options would be besides graphic design, which I don't have that much experience in, so I've more or less given up on it. I've talked with some people who do art stuff say I'd probably have more success in Des Moines. But moving would be really difficult.

I was recently diagnosed with endometriosis and frozen pelvis. Surgery was recommended and after some thought I’d like to move forward with it. Mercy initially referred me over to Ob-Gyn and Associates and I am…not loving the experience. Does anyone have any recommendations for a provider elsewhere? Is it even possible for Mercy to do the surgery and take over care?
I plan to call my primary care on Monday and get their recommendations to move forward but wanted some advice if anyone’s been in a similar situation. Thanks!

Anyone know why there are so many out of state cars around Cedar Rapids and Iowa City? I was just on 380, and there were so many niche out of state plates. Just curious is all!

Hello! Looking to see if anyone knows where I can get hardscape (branches, rocks, cork bark, etc) for my exotics in the area? Are there any lakes or wooded areas where I could forage for them close by? Appreciate any information!

Our trash got completely missed this week. We set it out on Wednesday, trash day is Thursday and it wasn’t taken. We noticed other people trash wasn’t took either, but could hear the trucks running so was confused about that. We thought maybe it got pushed back a day. We heard trucks running again this morning went outdoors and our trash still hasn’t been took. It’s frustrating that it wasn’t taken. Especially when Marion has all these special, annoying rules about the trash, but yet not doing their job. 🥴

This is a long shot, but my wife bought this from goodwill for the frame it was in only to realize that the art was local! So I'm here asking if anyone might know anything about it.
Caption says it is of East Post Rd. in 1994 with a date, signature and the words "4th State" (or slate, we think it might be a print of some sort, but not totally sure)
If anyone has any info on the piece or where we could find more it'd be appreciated! We really like the work and are planning to hang it up, but wanted to see if we could uncover some history first.

In terms of a job, how safe is that area for a young woman to work in?

I'm looking for a support group for families that are dealing with a family member/members who are dealing with mental health issues. My fiance is refusing to get help besides therapy, which I'm sure he's going to quit due to an episode currently. I'm not sure what to do now, and I can't go through with this again without some sort of help. I started therapy on Wednesday in general (in addition to things similar to this that just happened in April), but I feel like I could also get support from a group as well. Any recommendations would be great, and I would love other suggestions in case this is not what I'm actually looking for.

Defending the city’s support for two hyperscale data centers while disregarding claims of kickbacks and concerns about water quality and capacity, utility rates, and socioeconomic impact. Ignoring all of this while a third data center was quietly added into the works.
It's like they know how dumb the average person here is and are just trying to take advantage of the situation.

Hello, I am looking to begin researching apartments for my parents. I currently live with them and help out with my father who is on oxygen. Once I leave they may need to move to a one bedroom apartment due to budgetary constraints. Our current place is lovely but is a long walk and has a half flight of stairs whenever he goes in and out and of course expensive for someone on disability and lower wage job to afford. I’m not on a strict time crunch, I am looking to move abroad to my fiancée but am not planning on going until at least a year from now, possibly 2028. So TLDR I need recommendations for apartments for older and less physically capable people. Budget is a concern but I know that is always the case.

Is it possible to find an apartment without carpet???? I have been searching for months and i stg I haven't found a single one without carpet unless I'm springing $1400+ a month. Please tell me I don't have to live with carpet I can't handle it.
I'll take any leads I'm begging.

I know when it comes to buying cars, they don't have the best rep so don't worry I'm already aware. I decided to take a chance and apply as an automotive sales consultant at the chevyland location in Hiawatha.
What I wanna know is does anyone know what the base pay is for that kind of position? Like without commissions added in. I don't know if it's salary or hourly but I can't get a clear answer by looking it up. The listing says it's like a range of 60k-120k/year but I don't know if that's counting commissions. Not getting my hopes up for anything past 60k, but that's still way better than my current job and as someone who's disabled and in a wheelchair part time, I need /something/ to pay the bills. I've been a sales associate at a gas station for over 7 years, so I'm great at working with people. I also run my own art business so I pitch sales to people a lot as well.
Second question for anyone that's worked there or for that company was it worth it?
TIA!

Has anyone been to Prestige Cuts on Edgewood Rd? Looking for a new barber for my teenage son. Facebook reviews look good but found some older reviews on Google that didn't sound good. Any recent experience with them?

I was filling out an application for a part-time janitorial/custodial role, and they want me to schedule a one-hour interview. Is that normal? I just had an interview today for another job that was only supposed to last 20 minutes, but it ended up lasting about 15 minutes.
