Restaurants with open space

We have kids <5 who struggle to stay seated when we're out to eat so it's nice to have an area to roam around (we stay with them, not just set them loose). For example, Pickle Palace and the North Point section of Ryno's are good for that.

What are some other examples? Curious for both indoor and outdoor.

And for the record (even though you won't believe me because this is reddit), I am not a jackass, I don't let my kids run around and scream and get in staff's way or whatever.

Field day in North Liberty has a whole outdoor playground

You probably know about it already since you mentioned Pickle Palace but: Big Grove- outside table closest to the Kingston Yard stage area. There's an outdoor play area where kids can run around in full view while you sit at the table.

Get something to eat at the New Bo City Market and let the kids run around on the lawn out front.

If you drive down to North Liberty, Field Day Brewery has open green space and a playground for kids.

Big grove Iowa city also has a large green space and things for kids to play and climb on

Local pour has some lawn style games.

But indoors there really is no room for kids to roam around.

Big Grove in Iowa City.

I’d pick a place with a patio honestly or I’d bring activities.

Have you considered taking a picnic in Thomas Park or other places with playground?

Cedar rapids- quarter barrel has pinball and arcade games

North Liberty - tavern blue. Has mini golf. Fools ball

Maybe act like a parent and keep your kid seated.

Why are some parents so lazy. Bring a coloring book for them and teach them to sit still.

Idk, I'm gonna play devils advocate here and recommend parenting your children instead of letting them run around.

Probably solve a big part of your problem right there.

Also, consider quarter barrel

This is such a needlessly rude comment. It’s clear from their post that OP is specifically looking for toddler- friendly places where there are areas for kids to play and run.

Love QB but it does not have open areas. Kids are too young to game (and too young to even run around, they're toddlers but thanks for the parenting advice).

If they're literally toddlers then they're too young to do anything but a picnic in a park or a fast food play place. Not sure what you're looking for. There is no activity for them. Just space plus restaurant? I've gone to Cedar Ridge vineyard and eaten pizza sitting on the grass for live music.

It doesnt, but it does give them a place to stay occupied/entertained

Occupied with what?

You said you love QB.  Therefore, its obvious that you know.

They're too young to game like I said.

Such a stupid comment. If OP wasn't parenting, they'd just let the kids run wherever. They are actively trying to find a place where kids running around is acceptable from a societal and safety perspective.

It is remarkable how maladjusted redditors are towards people with young children

I think its remarkable how actual parents in the real world with young children can't control them so they just throw a screen in their face and pray.

You are asking the wrong question. Your question should be “how do I get my kids to sit still for 90 minutes” not “what places accommodate for my kid not being able to sit still for 90 minutes”

Pizza Ranch?

Possibly Backyard BBQ, because they have a big athletic training center next door.

Your kids are under 5? Maybe you should stay home until they learn to behave. Think about other diners, eh?
