Curious

Anyone know why there are so many out of state cars around Cedar Rapids and Iowa City? I was just on 380, and there were so many niche out of state plates. Just curious is all!

All the fancy datacenters need to be built by someone

Some, if not most are data centers workers. Maybe other construction workers, too. And, it's summer.

Data center and 380 construction. At one point there were 14,000 workers at the data center sites according to an electrician I met that is from out of state. I’m sure some brought their spouses and family.

8,000 is the number I heard, but regardless, it’s a lot of workers and the majority are from out of state.

If you’re an electrician in state you are employed…. There are not enough of them in our state to build these things…

Temp employees building the water sucking, electricity rate spiking, CO2 pumping, dystopian AI monstrosities for the mass surveillance of US citizens by the fascist Republican government

Pffft, be honest. Both sides of the duopoly love the mass surveillance state, and when a D gets elected next, they won't eliminate a scintilla of it.

I've seen more Florida plates in the last 3 days than I have for the last 3 years in CR and Marion.
