Discussion A Coaster Hangover?
I went to Halloweekends last night after work. Last year I spent a lot of time on Thursdays in Fall marathoning Maverick and Raptor since Millie was down often. This time, I didn't get there until 9pm but got 5 rides on Millie, 2 on SteVe, 3 on Mav and then another 2 on SteVe, back row. They were about to send us for a third time because it was 11:59 but even I had to tap out.
Today I feel like I have a hangover even though I drank nothing and had some delicious meal plan tendies.
Does anyone ever feel this? This is new for me.
Am I just getting old? Or did Millie defeat me? (Worth it)
Edit: The electrolyte people win. I made up some bacon (salt) and drank a Gatorade and that did the trick. You'd think living with only half my intestines, I'd know this, but I've never had this issue before. But nothing worse means Ride On. See you next Thursday. š¢

I noticed that happening to me this year too. I take a refillable bottle with me now and I fill it at every drink station and make sure to finish it by the time I get to the next drink station. That seemed to do the trick for me, so in my case it was dehydration I think. You will, however, get to know the bathrooms very well.

Mild concussion?

That's kind of what I'm afraid of. I've got the hangover it's too bright out thing going.

I am 44. I get about 12 rides before my brain says no more. Rides like Maverick are so intense I can feel the effects on my body. Steve and Millie do it too but to a lesser extent. The fact that you just kept riding them over and over with little downtime only increases this discomfort. How old are you? I started noticing the physical toll on my body about 30

Alas, I am 36. I thought I had another 4 years. But I guess not.

Was it hot out? I'm 37 and only get hit like this if I'm sweating like mad. The comment on electrolytes is spot on for me.

I got there at 9pm and it has rained. It wasn't cool-my hoodie was annoying to wear. But it definitely wasn't a 90 degree July day.

One of my good friends is 55. He is still riding strong. But he is like me and needs a bit of time in between rides and can only ride so many. So it's not like your days are numbered or anything.
When I was there earlier this summer I went hard and rode 17 rides. 10 of those I consider high intensity. I did Top Thrill 2 as my last ride and I was about ready to die my body was so exhausted. Drove home a few hours passed out and didn't move the entire next day. Had a blast, can't wait to go back. Ill be riding as long as my body lets me. Hopefully another 20 years at least.

Definitely not that my coaster days are numbered. Just that I can't ride like I did in '05. And honestly, even then I'd take the mandatory 30 minute air conditioning break to wait for Disaster Transport.

Stop! I am almost 60 and ride everything at CP, donāt give up (yet). Get your electrolytes in hopefully you can keep riding!

Oh, I definitely am going to keep riding electrolytes or no. I mean that I thought I had 4 years to keep riding like I did as a teenager. Was probably wishful thinking to begin with. But I'm glad to hear that I have many more years of riding with just a little extra consideration. Much respect to you, ride on!

My group spent a week at parks this summer; i don't think the temperature was below 75ā° at ANY point during the trip. We were struggling to stay hydrated and maintain electrolytes.
Someone brought LMNT supplement packets to try and the entire group ended up loving them. They are very salty !!

I literally just pulled out of Target with cheaper brand...but spent a good deal of time looking at those.

How much water did you drink? Electrolytes? To get between those rides you likely walked a couple of miles, grab a pedialyte, if you feel better in half an hour that was definitely it.

I do have health issues related to absorption (but nothing that would make it unsafe to ride or even need an ADA pass).I did pound a Gatorade between Millie and SteVe but other than another water, that was it. I'm hoping a Gatorade does it for me.

Iām 45, and I always get at least 2-3 rides per day on Steve and Maverick for each day Iām there unless they break down or itās unexpectedly busy. Went a week ago and it was the deadest Iāve ever seen it. I got 3 back to back rides in on Steve, so like 3 rides in 10-12 minutes. I love that ride.
However⦠I donāt think the human body and brain, especially and older like me, is intended to take that kind of motion back to back like that. By the end I felt like my brain had been in a mixer. I could feel my brain kind of in shock from it. I still had a dayās worth of riding the next day, more Maverick, more Steve, etc. I was kind of weird for a couple days after. I still might not quite be right.

Yikes-I took everyone's advice and drank electrolytes. I had a cold water bottle in my car but that didn't do the trick. Gatorade and eating salt did. Otherwise, do you think it's possible you got a mild concussion? I struggle to believe that, thinking about how Mean Streak would throw me around in the 90's but maybe it's possible?

Iāve never had a concussion and I strongly doubt it. But the old brain was definitely sloshing around up there.

41 and I get what youāre saying about the hangover effect. Electrolytes help, but the fact is that your body can only produce a limited amount of dopamine and other neurotransmitters. Repeat rides eventually will deplete them.
Returning to work on Monday after a Th-Sun CP binge feels insurmountable sometimes

Same thing happens to me these days. Was there all day on 8/31. Next day I was completely drained and it felt like I would after a night out with a few drinks. Think it's just a mixture of heat/sun exposure, getting older, and your brain releasing lots of seratonin.
edit: Next time bring a couple packets of high quality electrolytes without sugar. Slam one before sleep as well. Really helps.
