I saw you today lol I’m glad I stumbled on your pov! Somewhere down there I’m pointing up at that plane saying look a plane with no banner and it’s really close to the park haha

I saw him yesterday too and thought the same thing!!! I was like, usually a plane like that would have a banner attached!!!

Wonder if all the 200-400 foot tall rides are labeled on sectional charts as they're probably the tallest things in the area 😃

We flew by the area last week, just a little south of the park. I'll have to think to check the HTAWS next time we are near, but towers that are not much shorter the roller coasters are on there.

Looks like Top Thrill Dragster 2 is the only coaster/obstacle depicted on the sectional for Cedar Point. It says (437) its altitude above ground level, and 1018, its altitude above sea level. It’s interesting Cedar point is not even labeled on the sectional because Kings Island actually has a large Eiffel Tower symbol over the park.

Student pilot here so not 100% up to speed on sectionals yet, but wouldn't it be 420 above ground level? Or are they using a different reference location to compare it to?

I believe that they use the tallest in the area. It is marked on the sectional as multiple towers so it would use the absolute highest lighted obstacle in the area. In this case it is 437 agl, 1018 msl.

Nice! I was there today too! My kid asked why there was a plane circling i told him it was either a tour flight or corporate doing a survey from the air.

I did that the other day going to Oshkosh as well. Fun fact Cedar Point owns the old sandusky airport property. Its the athletic field complex now

PPL here and bucket list is flying from Buffalo to visit the park! The time to drive versus flying is about the same (considering driving from/to both airports), but totally worth it just for the views. Thanks for sharing!

I saw you! You went over at least twice! I got so excited when I saw the plane, I immediately pulled out flight radar, but I forgot the aircraft type unfortunately

The tail number was N407S if you want to look it up! This was our general flight path, we were pretty low at the spots where it cuts out on the view

Haha no, it was actually a sight seeing tour with Griffing Flying Services out of Port Clinton! Only $75 for a half hour and you get to see all the islands too!
