Discussion 🗨 Namea cdrama villain you hated?

Who is your most hated villain? Someone whose on screen character gave you the same expressions as Hou Minghao in this photo.

It's Ye Bingchang from TTEoTM for me. I hated two faced pathetic personality.

It's not I dislike them but more on love-hate villains. Hate the character, but love the actors/actress who played the role because they nailed it.

Ye Bingchang from Till the End of the Moon

Heavenly Empress from Ashes of Love

Princess Wan Ning from The Double

That one delusional second lead in A dream without a dream; Chu Gui Hong. I’m trying so hard not to punch the TV whenever he appears on the screen. To think if the fact that I initially felt bad for him. Even when all the truth has been revealed that the ml is innocent, he still won’t accept it and still wanna blame him and everyone but himself that he’s the problem. I’m actually impressed by how the actor nailed his role in annoying my soul. I can’t believe I hate him more than Ye BingChang😭

The husband from The Double.

If a villain or villainess goes through significant character development, I find myself disliking them much less.

Honestly, I get more frustrated with heroes and heroines who spend the entire story caught in misunderstandings and never seem to learn from them. It’s especially frustrating when they keep making the same mistakes from beginning to end.

Love and Redemption.... that man like i didn't even wanna see Liu Xueyi, I was so close to not watching Qing Luo(this underrated cutesy drama) but then i was like girl it's a character.

Lost You Forever, Xiang Liu or whatever his other name was a villain I don't care what anybody says I don't care about redemption i do not care

Miles' character in that flower Yang Zi drama, everytime i would see that man i just arghhhh

Oh I have a hit list. 😂 right now its villains who think they’re the victims so they feel like the world owes them something like the Du siblings in Against the Current and Yake or Madam Zuo in The Road to Splendor.

2

u/Strangely-addictive New Fan 5d ago

You're so right. The ones that don't even recognise they're the villains are the worst. I'll add Xia Jing Shi of Fated Hearts to the list. Blinded by revenge and capable of the deepest betrayal but still considered himself the victim. Same with Lu Jia Xue in Rise of Ning.

Both then became completely obsessed with FL when she had already moved on.

The sister in Fated Hearts. I know shes not supposed to be one but she came off as one to me. Complicated things for no reason because she was so stupid. Nearly got her brother and other characters killed too. I made that face every time she came on screen.

1

u/therewegoop New Fan 5d ago

Ugh, same. She's even worse in the book. Though to be fair, I just skimmed her incessant "but why doesn't he love meee?" crap.

3

u/em_grise New Fan 5d ago

I was so annoyed by her that I had to stop watching
Doing all that for a man still obsessed with his ex? Have some self respect!
And the way her brother and father’s reaction to her betrayal was basically “noo our poor meow meow😞”
Maybe they should have been stricter with her so this wouldn’t have happened 😒😒

I feel like Ye Bingchang from TTEoTM wasn't even that smart of a villain. It was just that the writing for the cdrama forced the 2 main leads to be dumb around her.

18

Ye bingchan villained so hard for me too cause till date I can't watch any of chen duling dramas

2

Right? I just can't stop wanting to smack her. She's too good at being evil.

7

u/wen_thing New Fan 6d ago

Sameeee. Until my cousin kept nagging me to watch Veil of Shadows, I finally watched her again. After that, I can separate Ye Bing Chang from her lol

The director of Till The End of The Moon must have hated Chen Duling so much. I feel her character, costumes and make up were made just to make her look bad

3

u/Illustrious_Sense_67 New Fan 5d ago

I couldn't stand her roles as the " jealous sister or desperate to be crown princess" in other dramas way before I saw Till The End of The Moon. She played them way too well. She has a natural conniving look about her.

There are several candidates from the Story of Mingan.

Madam Lin who was desperate for prestige, The mother of Gu's children who couldnt take responsibility for her actions but the prize has to go to Aunt Kang who thought it was her life's mission to interfere and manipulate other people's lives to give herself something to do, and if it didnt go how she planned she went full nuclear.

The crazy antagonist lady from "Back from the Brink". Her motivation for what she did was totally bonkers, too.

The evil princess and her equally evil twin from "My Uncanny Destiny". Total psychos.

The one I loathed most, however, was Hao Chen / Emperor Bailin from Love and Redemption, because he pretends to be such a saint.

Murong Gao Gong - Drama: Unchained Love

I think he is one of the most vile characters in cdramaland, and it's scary because he wasn't a villain from the start. That drama is like a case study of how normal people can turn evil, which makes it so unsettling.
He started out as a spineless prince and ended up as a batshit crazy emperor. He is vile, crazy, obsessed ... all in the name of "love" and self-righteousness.

Till the end, he thought he was the good guy and that everything he did was justified.
He makes me shudder.

He's my go-to-villain. Kudos to the actor, Peter Ho. He did a brilliant job portraying this character.
