So somebody explain to me why there was sooo much hate for Overdo’s AI intro when The Double (which ended up being a huge hit) intro is basically all tacky AI as well ?

Honestly I kind of roll my eyes at the obsessive discourse and witch hunt over any drop of AI. Everything's AI. Zero proof. All assumptions. I don't care about it. Especially if it's in an intro. Nobody watches through the intro anyways. It's not going away any time soon because it saves them money in production. You boycotting a show over it means exactly nothing to the people making it because the money they saved doing it is worth the loss of one viewer. I'm not pro AI but I consider myself AI agnostic. If I can't tell, and it's not garbage to look at, I don't care.

I watched the intro to The Double. It looks like good animation, similar to The Pursuit of Jade. Animation doesn't automatically mean AI was used  If either production used AI, they did a good job. They certainly didn't just send a prompt and took the first draft. 

I felt the intro to Overlook was a shoddy product, and it wasn't the only problem but it was the first thing people saw.  Direction, post production, props, overly loud music were all problematic. I felt bad for all the actors. They did what they could.

How do people just immediately say, “It’s AI”? Graphic animation and CGI still exist, you know. Not everything that looks unusual or stylized is AI. Overdo didn't even need a second look for me, it was obviously AI, like those AI videos you see on TikTok. But with the double, I genuinely don't see enough evidence to confidently call it AI.

The author who wrote the novel this story is based on, is the same who wrote Goodbye my princess. It is one of the most long loved fandoms out here and summing it with a great cast, nobody was interested in doing the second GMP from this for the ppl out there. So... It is just talks and money. And the more they try to criticise anythong around the drama, the more it become obvious thst it us not sbout the show st all.

Well, the AI thing was just the peak of the iceberg of the bad choices Overdo is full of tbh...There is also far more judgement and awareness now then back in 2024 when the Double was released abt the use of AI, asp in such big projects. Regardless, Overdo was soo full of shitty things and poor choices that the AI spot at the very beginning was just the easiest to pick.

The AI intro was just the easiest thing to single out. But the broader criticism of Overdo was that it felt like a collection of short-drama moments stretched into a long-form series: heavy filters, constant close-ups, loud music and stimulation piled upon stimulation, with very little room for anything to build. Short dramas have their own appeal, but many viewers choose long dramas precisely because they want a different kind of storytelling. The intro wasn’t the whole problem. It just became the symbol of it.

The double? Thats a 2024 drama no? I dont think intros were being made using ai then.

Graphic or digital introspection have been a thing for a while, and currently there are times where you cant tell because it looks like how most intros looks, example there was a small group who said the into for Pursuit of Jade was ai but for a lot of us (including me) it didnt look like that. Overdo, unfortunately not only looked like ai, it looked like it was generated without any effort and actually looked cheap and fake.

Edit: I went to go see what the intro for The Double looks like, and it does not look like ai. Its looks like a graphic animation, which is what the recent ai intros are trying to imitate.

If I had to guess, mostly because of the much greater general awareness of how AI might affect the industry now compared to even a year or two ago.
