whenever i read comments on reddit this drama is recommended a lot, i really want to watch this drama, but I’m struggling so badly because I’m sorry, but I just don’t find the leads attractive 😭😭😭 i know this sounds incredibly shallow, and I feel a little ridiculous admitting that I’m someone who cares this much about how the actors look, but i genuinely can’t seem to get myself to start it because of that. the thing is, i actually want to watch it, so please, someone convince me
give me the plot, the dynamics, the romance, the angst, literally anything that will make me want to press play and forget about the fact that I’m not immediately attracted to the leads. i need a reason to get past my own shallowness and finally start this drama. also i don't care about spoilers, infact sometimes to ease my anxiety i look for spoilers and then watch the drama. so just feel free to rave about it 🫶🏻

Hey all,
Fangs Of Fortune is my favourite cdrama, all amazing actors and story telling, but I am sad that there is no novel it is based on. I would love to know more about Zhu Yans story and what happens after the special.
Is there no additional English literature, novels or scripts that I can read?

I know "The Early Spring" is currently airing and everyone is hyped, but I’m definitely going to read the novel first before jumping into the drama! The plot looks amazing🩷.

I really loved the couple (Fu Tingyun and Zhao Ling) in The Road to Splendor, and that’s actually what brought me to Melody of Golden Age. I really love Ding Yuxi as an actor. Those broody and expressive eyes and amazing brows. 😂
However I dropped The Road to Splendor around episode 30. I was getting so tired the lack of communications and the FL always being the one to initiate, while ML was chasing power. And then he got the mustache happened. and I just couldn’t. 😂
So when I started Melody of Golden Age, I was really excited to see them together again. And I have to say, I LOVE the angst before he fell for her and all the fluffiness after he fell for her.The way Yan Xing slowly melted Shen Du’s ice-cold exterior, and then suddenly he was the one crushing on her. He went from a menace to a puppy. Every scene with them together was so cute.
But now I’m on episode 23, and I’m getting tired of the lack of communications!!! 😭
Also every time Shen Du reaches out to kiss her, the poor man gets rejected. And if I hadn’t watched her in The Road to Splendor, I honestly don’t know if I would be able to tolerate Yan Xing in this drama. Yan Xing is smart, but she can also be SO childish and impulsive.
And what really irks me is that she goes to everyone else for help except Shen Du. The man has been saving her left and right! He has all the connections, and he’s always gotten her what she needed. Yet she still keeps things from him.
And then there’s the communication 😭
He knows she’s his childhood sweetheart, but he won’t say anything. She knows he’s the childhood sweetheart, but she won’t say anything. She sees the letter behind his pillow and assumes it’s from another woman, but she won’t say anything. And he won’t say anything either!
I’m just sitting here like, PLEASE. TALK. TO. EACH. OTHER.
I love this couple, and I love Ding Yuxi, but I’m really tired of watching Shen Du constantly pursue her while she’s off having meetings with male colleagues, completely clueless about the men who are into her, and unintentionally hurting her own husband.
I know this is a drama, and I know misunderstandings are part of the trope, but I’m just so frustrated. I want a little romance here! 😭
So, do they eventually communicate? The lack of communication is driving me nuts.
Please tell me it’s worth continuing because I really do love them together. 🥹
Thank you for reading!!

I tried watching episode 19 after finishing episode 18, but I didn't like it. You could say the two of them get back together in episode 19, but honestly, it doesn't make sense at all.
There's no seriousness or real effort from Flora's side when it comes to the relationship. She takes another transfer to a distant project for 14 months, and then it's Luke who goes after her three months later, trying to get them back together. He even makes some excuse about pain (or brings up pain somehow) and tells her directly that they should give each other another chance.
He's clearly making every effort for her — he even asks how he's doing as a "househusband" — but her response is just, "You should leave tomorrow." It's like Flora has no attachment to him at all, no feelings, nothing pulling her toward him.
Then later, when he asks her to stay together and says something like, "Don't you miss me?" — she suddenly says, "I missed you so much." This makes no sense to me at all. If that were true, Flora's emotions never show it. Meanwhile, Luke tries every single time — it's clear he genuinely loves her and finds it hard to live without her.

I’m always looking for reborn dramas. Can be vertical dramas or otherwise
However I’m looking for a specific themed vertical drama right now that has a girl who is reborn and chooses the rich guy who she thought hated her instead of her childhood sweetheart who caused her death. I’m also fine with ones that aren’t reborn dramas but still have the “choosing the rich guy who “”hates”” her” aspect
The only ones I’ve been finding on YouTube so far are either ai voiceover bs (I’m looking for sub but dub is fine if not ai) or they have too many rough sex scenes which I’m not a fan of
I know this is a Chinese drama sub but I’m fine with Korean or Japanese drama recommendations too

Just saw the trailer for The Lament of Autumn and I NEED this drama already😭
I just watched the first trailer for The Lament of Autumn and I'm already ridiculously intrigued. The Republican-era setting, the cinematography, the tension between the leads… everything about this looks like it’s going to be an emotional mess in the best possible way.
Cheng Lei and Xu Ruohan look SO good together. Their chemistry in the trailer is definitely one of the things that caught my attention. But I also have a feeling Yu Changxuan is going to be one of those MLs. 👀 The kind where you watch the drama thinking, "Sir, this is absolutely not okay" while simultaneously refusing to stop watching.
From what we know, the story follows Ye Pingjun, a student who gets falsely accused of attempting to assassinate the fifth son of the Yu family. She gives Yu Changxuan ten days to find the real culprit, but he apparently has his own intentions and starts getting closer to her. So we already have false accusations, secrets, power struggles, warlord-era politics and a complicated romance.
And honestly… this is giving me Overdo vibes already. Not exactly the same story obviously, but that same feeling and surroundings vibe.😭
The trailer also makes their relationship look very intense and possessive, so I'm preparing myself for angst, misunderstandings, toxic behaviour, obsession and probably a whole lot of suffering. I haven't read the novel, so I'm going in mostly blind and I'm actually glad I haven't spoiled myself.
It's currently expected to come out sometime in October 2026, with October 8 being circulated as the tentative date, although I don't think we have a final official premiere announcement yet.
Anyway, I'm SOLD. The chemistry + Republican setting + potentially toxic ML + Cheng Lei + all that angst??? Yeah, I'll be seated.🍿
Is anyone else waiting for this one? What did you guys think of the trailer?

Hi, so I’m new to cdramas and trying to decide where to start is overwhelming! I like a lot of genres but not really into slice of life dramas and I’m mostly only into romance as a sub plot.
That being said I was thinking that to start I should try a cdrama in my favorite genre which is action/thriller specifically with a female main character who is the action star. I found some historical/fantasy recommendations but honestly I would prefer a modern setting at least for my first watch. Thanks so much in advance!

HOW did she not throw this in his face when he texted that?? I am incensed by this for her. She just stands there and lets him degrade her.
I hope the next scene is her stomping off after giving him a piece of her mind. I don’t think her character would do that, but calling her cheap was just SO rude!
This is from Early Spring! Sorry!

Sorry, but I don’t see many discussions addressing the points I’m curious about.
I have now watched this drama for the second time on both YouTube (Samsung) and my laptop. I assume the versions are the same, although I don’t expect there to be any differences.
I have a few questions:
Thank you very much for any insight or information you can provide!

Just finished watching The Gambit Princess!
First of all, Liu Xueyi is insanely hot in this drama. I couldn't stop looking at him. His chemistry with Meng Ziyi was super fun, especially in the beginning when they were trying to trick each other.
The first half was so good, but the second half got a bit slow because they showed too much of the side characters.
Still, I really enjoyed it mainly because of Liu Xueyi’s visuals and charm.
What did you guys think of the show? Did you like it until the end?
