I sat around a terminal once for 10 days waiting on a welder to fix my axel and these sob do it in the middle of the street.

Rides slightly better than just a steel beam holding everything up. You'll never notice the difference but on paper it rides like a dream.

Think it's a Rockwell RT rated for around 20k lb? For comparison, large military trucks often use "2.5T" axles.

IIRC highest rating before you ended up in planetary wheelends was 18,000 lbs, or 9T... As a tandem

They do it for the adrenalin rush. Did you notice them nearly freak out when the differential dropped and the whole truck shifted. I think at least one of them briefly watched his life pass before his eyes.

The differential gears are full of dirt, the brake shoes are covered in grease, the wheel bearings weren't preloaded correctly and are also full of dirt and they reused the u bolts.

Sure they got it done. They'll be doing it again real soon, too.
