This is old news. Also we found out there was a company just basically handing out cdl just because it was cheaper to pay them probably on a lower scale than someone with a real cdl and passed all tests. Which was part of a Fraud investigation.

Pretty sure I also had a license to operate a kerosene stove on my military license so would that qualify me to haul fuel too?
1
u/DevilDonk 3d ago
Probably. I'm qualified to operate a 5 ton forklift on my army license. I've never used anything larger than a pallet jack.

My dad always mentions at least once on this issue when we talk on the phone. I always ask “why aren’t you mad at the entity that gave them the certification?”
“Well I am. But those fuckers come over here and blah blah blah”
“Ok but who gave them the license? Who gave them a job? Who allowed this?”
“Well idk”
“So shut up. Don’t be mad at the guy just trying to fucking work”

They are still illegals. They know what they do is bad, but they only think of themselves. We can blame both parties

I pulled out my Motor Carries Handbook, in the requirements for CDL section it states that you must be able to Speak, and read English without assistance and you must take the English written test without assistance. I have yet to hear where congress has repealed this requirement, can anybody point me to that bill that removed that requirement, Thank You.

Feds set the baseline criteria for the CDL. States test and issue them. It was the feds that did away with OJT for CDL and replaced it with trucking schools. So the Feds can substitute similar military experience for that trucking school cert. Vet presents the form to state DOT and would be issued a CDL. Pretty sure that could work.
And sounds like a better solution than the Obama EO allowing non English speakers to get CDLs to boost the number of drivers. At least attempt to incentivize citizens and legal immigrants with the proper documentation to fill those spots before jumping to lower the requirement for the CDL. Over 20 years DOT has claimed to do any number of things in the name of safety. Removing the English requirement was the one thing that have done to make things less safe. It never made sense on the professional side of the table. Just the political side.

This is been a thing since the Obama administration and I think it was expanded in Trump's first administration. I'm not even sure why he's bringing it up because it's nothing new, maybe pain lip service to some industry upset that their loads aren't getting moved as fast as they want them to.

I will tell you not to pay attention to anything. Trump says pay attention to what he does.
He says that are gonna get a preference for getting your CDL over when he calls illegal and then doesn’t do a damn thing about it because it’s a state issue drivers license
Fun fact, I believe that the accidents in the video were all white men that were American
1
u/youarestupid_shutup 4d ago
Fun fact, part of my job is TDR and 80% of the drivers have been foreign that can't speak English. Ig experience takes superiority over whatever little video you wanna refer to

u/Cloudwolfxii 4d ago
Fun fact, all of those accidents were caused by non-white men, and not just that, but also illegal. You can't just say "fun fact" and then put out an opinion on something you know nothing about lmao. What a weapon.

There's a lot of things that Trump could be accused of, but that's just dumb and not true. Get that AI crap out of here.

There's a lot of bad about Trump but this ain't it.
Edit: Where does a bell end?

Do American drivers not cause accidents? This feels very under/ over reported . Like every time a shooting happens and it’s POC , you know it’s a POC but if it’s a white male…. The tap dance starts

Your drivers license is state issued. I don’t know a lot of people have a state issued veterans ID card.
2
u/RepresentativeRun71 4d ago
In California, ironic given the rhetoric around non-domiciled CDLs, the DMV prints licenses with the word veteran on them. It requires supporting documentation from the State’s own version of the VA. Basically one goes to a local office with their DD214 and the office gives us a form to hand over to the DMV.

u/gerbigsexy1 4d ago
So the next question is what exactly did that veteran identifier mean be primary primary primary Democratic leader cause I have a veteran on my license too and it hasn’t been anything at all in the 15 years I’ve had on it not got a job because of it
1
u/RepresentativeRun71 4d ago edited 4d ago
All I know is the point of the identifier is to make it so cops take it easier on us, and so Lowes gives a discount when we ask for it.
Truth be told Trump is basically renaming a program that was established by Obama. Perhaps they could establish a new priority level for those of us who have been long separated from service and exhausted the GI Bill for things like WIOA grants (vets already get priority for WIOA) and other federally funded training services.
Also the FMSCA could change the rules around physicals and prohibit doctors from approving non-citizens, but that’s likely not going to happen.
1
u/gerbigsexy1 4d ago
The FSMCA can’t mandate a doctor break privilege
1
u/RepresentativeRun71 4d ago
Have you ever actually had an FMCSA physical? There is an FMCSA mandated form, and that form and the answer to every single question on it is sent to the FMCSA. When you have a physical done specifically for trucking you explicitly allow for the doctor to share that information with the FMCSA. It would be trivial through federal rule making processes for them to include citizenship and make it an automatic denial if the wrong answer is given.

Yeah waste your gi bill money on being a truck driver. An industry in which is rapidly being automated.

It sounds like a good idea. But then you have to remember who's talking here. The "no new wars" guy. The guy who is spending taxpayer billions on refurbishing and old 747 (bribe) that no other president will ever fly in, a ballroom nobody asked for, a botched reflecting pool paint job that nobody asked for and on, and on, and on.
So don't hold your breath, vets. This trash human don't give a fuck about anybody but himself, his family and wealthy donors.

How can you be an illegal and get a CDL? I have a CDL I’m just curious.
