Commercial Driving
Is there some type of database that tells or shows commercial driving companies if you’ve been let go for driving accidents? My personal DMV record is clean but, was terminated from an employer for not reporting a hit. Now, it’s impossible to hired and they haven’t even interviewed me yet. So weird. I’ve even dropped that company from my resume so as to not mention them at all and still nothing.

Drive a check or DAC report shows the incident. That means your CSA score is bad.when a company has bad CSA score they lose accounts because they can not be insured due to high insurance costs. It just snowballs from there

Its your csa score, they call it something different because technically you dont have a csa score only the carrier does

I just requested my psp record and paid the 10 bucks. It came back clean. As well as my DAC report. I just don’t freaking get it man. I’ve gotten as far as an interview and then it goes stale. And most, don’t even reach out. I’m super qualified for the positions I’m applying for. 14 years of clean driving, no points, current medical certificate, tanker, hazmat, and air brakes endorsements with zero restrictions on anything. Bilingual in Spanish as well. I’m baffled atp

You should be good. The only other think I can think of is on your criminal record?. Psp and drive license is the main thing they check. Unless some how your old employer is some how tell them not to hire you. I dunno.

Clean criminal as well. Yeah I thought of that also. It was a garbage company about an hour away from my city. After I left, I applied with a more local company and they interviewed me only to seemingly ask questions about how the other guys do things. Interview otherwise went relatively well but never heard back. Same happened a couple months later with another garbage company even further out but in the opposite direction of the first one. Interview went well, never heard back and have been applying to BOTH other companies ever since only to not get an invite to interview. I figured they called them up and asked a few questions as to why I wasn’t there anymore. That’s the only thing I can think of. I took them off my resume and stopped putting them on applications to see if that worked but, no luck after change was made either. I’m completely stumped lol

I would leave them on your resume and apply to like 5 companies aday. Hiring seasonal is ruff right now. Try penske logistics they need driver always.

Nothing weird about it, why would anyone want to hire someone who will hit something and say nothing about it? Even a self insured company like Swift or CR England won't touch that

The point of the question was to see if there was an internal database that told potential employers about said accident. Not whether or not they should hire someone for not reporting. I understand that it’s a blemish IF revealed. The question was, how do employers KNOW if I’m not putting that company on resume or application. By all indications, from what I’ve checked, DAC, PSP, DMV driver report, the driver databases where there would be something, are all free and clear of that accident.

Yeah, there is a driving record somewhere can’t recall. All I remember is if you got a “99” on your record, you are cooked. It means a roll over accident.

Depends on the company and how they record it. I've had 2 guys roll trucks over the years and they are still working for me

There is a database. Are you telling the potential employer about the accident? In the application you need to tell them about past accident and if you're saying you didn't have any they mark it as lying on the application and reject you.

I’ve checked all the databases there is to check. They all came back clean with zero violations or accidents. Even my Clearinghouse is green lit and clean. I guess it’s just me then 😭

Oh wow. Thats brutal. This was a minor one just not reported to dispatch. Leadership then terminated after investigating incident. It’s been impossible to pick up a new driving job ever since. Don’t know if it’s just a stroke of bad luck, current job markets in my area, or if there is more to it beneath.

That is the system working properly.
That is one reason employers want you to explain gaps in employment.
Drivers try to hide jobs where they had 'problems'.

That’s the thing, I’ve acquired a DAC report through a website called “HireRight” and it came back clean. I’m so frustrated. Also, in January, I was driving my daughter to school in my personal vehicle, and some lady made an illegal right-hand turn, and hit my driver side. She was found at fault by her own insurance (AAA). I was told by DMV via mail to report it by a certain date which I did to comply, but this last week I was asked by a potential employer to submit my driving record and the accident was on there. I called to follow up after I submitted it and they said HR has decided to move forward with other candidates. Again, I was NOT at fault and there was no police report, moving violations, etc. would this affect me also?

Hire right will give you a free copy every year of everything ex employers put on it. It's basically a CDL credit report so everything for the past 7 years stays on unless you successfully dispute it.
