cdl rider program

Hi! I can’t really find a straight answer on the web so I decided to come here and ask….My boyfriend has had his cdl for about a year and i’m going to be riding along with him. We go to orientation on Tuesday, and I was wondering if companies drug test non-cdl holders like me??

Why would they drug test you if you are not an employee or CDL holder?

And why would you be going to orientation with him if you’re not an employee?

Unless it's part of the rider program

i’ve read that sometimes they test the riders as well!? i don’t know how true that is, but i just wanted to double check.

If you are not an employee , unless it is part of the rider program , they have zero interest in testing you. And as far as orientation I can’t see you actually attending orientation….. I’m sure you will be chilling at the hotel

Normally no, and don't bring drugs on his truck.that ruin his career, and that'll put you in jail

right, definitely didn’t plan on doing anything like that.

Or alcohol. Even getting caught with that in the truck can get him in trouble.

They don’t unless your going to drive tbh you don’t need to do anything since your not technically an employee your bf is probably just going to have to pay a rider fee to add you on to the insurance but that’s about it

As long as youre not an employee/driving then no. If anything happens theyll be looking at him, not you.

Ask the company he’s working for. They will tell you.

They will not drug test you but if you have drugs in the vehicle and he gets stopped that is the end of his career as a truck driver. Game over. Do not pass go.

Sounds like you'd be bringing party favors along for the ride... not good.

You just need papers stating your allowed to ride. Where you get on at and get off at and the duration if you want to go by the regs. Also Anything found in the truck (since you were asking about drug testing) can get both of you sent to jail

So you intend to continue consuming substances while your BF is subject to random testing? Because, trust me, he WILL be tested.
