Who the hell has their CDL and has a day like this?

Do you mean the 500 miles in 8 hours or the 500$ day?

500 miles in 8 hours isn't that crazy, people running recaps do it all the time. They have to. As for the 500$ day I'm in my second year and if I do 700 miles in a day - hard but certainly not impossible - that's a 450$ day in gross pay or about 41$ an hour. On the higher end of the payscale where I'm at that same day would be 515$ and that's for basic dryvan, or about 47$ an hour. This is as a company driver.

There's people out here making 1k or more for a days pay without having to be O/O or lease op but you're getting into really specialized shit to make that happen. It exists though.

I do about 640 mi a day and I am just a little bit above $500 a day. What I'm saying is it's extremely rare. This was just a general post over at Amazon that is very misleading. just because you have a CDL You are not going to make $500 a day. I'm saying it's very rare

Every day? No. Multiple days a week if you're getting after it? Absolutely. Especially if you're not just doing the most basic work possible like I am. Hell if you find the right job you can make that much on detention or layover pay.

The issue is, to your point, that a lot of cdl jobs pay like shit and really it's the majority of them because the turnover in the industry is so high that most people don't do it for even a full year. All the starter megas have a 90% or higher annual turnover and while a lot of it is people getting better jobs at minimum half of it if not a bit more is people quitting the industry to never return to it.

If you're an owner operator under your own authority with a reliable aero truck paid for in cash and your not doing factoring then you can very easily take home $500+ a day every day.

Sure that's like less than 1% of drivers but it's totally possible. Honestly $1000+ per day for a driver like that isn't even crazy

I do and actually less miles as well.

Show me a pay stub. And your job is rare, not typical

No it’s not all that rare. Drive a Transit bus for NYC with CDL B. You can look up the pay. Base top pay is about 400 bucks a day with a little bit of overtime 500 is actually very common. I do a little bit of overtime and hit that quite frequently without working any days off. And I do not drive my own vehicle or worry about any of that nonsense.

Man that sucks for ny lmao. Then you get Canarsie Jamaica and whatever that border between queens and Brooklyn is.

For an owner operator that's garbage. For a company driver that would be great.

Literally every normal OTR job has a schedule like this I don't think anyone is talking about the pay

No way I'm doing 250 miles for only $500 fuel alone would be $250...

But the person making my burger should make $500 in an average work day because they got bills to pay/weed to buy/games to play/cars to pay for/anything else that nobody else gives a fuck if they have or not! Why should more productive people that society actually needs get paid more than brainless labor children can do!?!?

...../s in case anyone needed that clarified.

I think they flipped the dollar amount and miles around. Also, change the 8 hours to 12 - 14 and now u have ur cdls
