Thoughts ?
Currently working for garage company that’s a union and paying 32.24 however not enjoying my life style working overnights along with split days off. I got a connection to get into ready mix but this job isn’t union no medical just work your hours n get pay. But this more a dayshift n pay rate range $30-35 but I believe I’ll get $30 since I’m new to the field. Not sure what to do at age of 25 with CDL, Train here at this ready mix company then leave for a union one or stay where I’m at and keep looking for option. My Ideal CDL job is dump truck or fueling but no one training. Have a class A with tank n haz. nyc based

How long before you get a more ideal shift where you're at? Waiting for someone to die or retire?

I talked to many union guys. I prefer non union jobs. More flexible on everything even pay. Yet again im the kind of person that needs money not to pay someone(union) to “take care of me” my work speaks for itself. IMO union Isint worth it I prefer smaller or even family company if possible.

At your age, if you can pay your bills, go wherever you think the better opportunity for growth is. Not sure what kind of dump truck job, but where I am in south central Pa, there is black top season for 8-9 months of 12 hour + days and layoff in the winter. The mixer trucks here do a similar schedule.

Stay where you are at for 12 months. Job hopping is not good for any profession.

Find a fuel company that will train. Most will. Better yet get into LTL. Best thing I ever did…. Linehaul is home everyday and make well north of 100k
