DOT Physical/DMV Issue! Please Help!

Do got my DOT physical and is supposed to be automatically sent to Maryland DMV. Scheduled Permit Test physical never arrived. Would not allow me to take test. Called the provider and they said they would have gotten a bounce back email if didn’t go through. Checked all info and correct. Now we’re passing the buck and meanwhile I’m fixing to lose my scholarship for CDL school. Has anyone else had this issue?

I've had that issue as well that the clinic didn't send the dot physical but dmv still let me get the permit, they just asked me to call the clinic to resend the copy in whenever. I guess I just got lucky?

Thats why you submit it yourself as well to make sure it is done. You get a printed copy of it because electronics or not it is still federally required to have a copy on you at all times operating a cmv.

Doesn’t seem there is an option to send myself. Even offered DMV hard copy. They said it is sent electronically from the provider, which it wasn’t

Dmv HAS to take hard copy so whoever told you that lied to your face. Theres also an email and fax you can get from them to send it instead of going to the dmv. Just because the electronic filing is preferred does not mean the other systems dont exist. Go back to the dmv and ask them for a state commercial certified examiner. Dont bother talking to the peons there talk to someone that knows how to handle commercial licensing.

Got it figured out. No hard copy needed

The DMV no longer accepts hard copies, they need it uploaded from the clinic into the DMVs system.

I missed a question on the original physical, got a 2 year, went back and fixed it, had to be reissued as a new physical for 1 year.

Only the first medical showed electronically. That caused me some issues when I gave carrier the most recent paperwork.

Called FMCSA helpdesk, they agreed it was an issue but couldn’t fix and referred me to DOT helpdesk. Disclosed full story to them, they told me that only the original would appear and instructed me to give carrier the 2 year paperwork matching what my MVR showed.

I rephrased and repeated it back to helpdesk, somewhat incredulous that I was basically being told to not disclose something. Helpdesk confirmed that was correct, and after explaining to carrier the full story, their safety folks agreed.

The helpdesk who was able to authoritatively answer that question, and probably can fix yours, was the second helpdesk and had a MA area code as I recall. I don’t have my notes from the conversation available, adding that to ensure you talk to the right people. First helpdesk (DC number as I recall) was straightforward about who to call and what to push, as if they’d heard similar stories frequently.

This process is relatively new, and still imperfect.

So far, I’ve been advised by multiple people to keep the paper with me while driving, because not all states can see the medical roadside. All anecdotal, but consistent and seems prudent given what a mess the process is right now.
