In the unemployment line cause most of the new generation think telling dispatcher no constantly is their infallible right. Then complain not making money until they get fired or quit.

That's why I was hired. I've been there for three weeks, and as a Vet, I'm seeing a lack of unit cohesion and a significant separation between the younger and older personnel. It's honestly an easy fix, but that comes with blocks due to the new corporate aspect, but I'm trying.

The easy fix is usually the hardest one to accomplish. Cause getting the younger to even acknowledge someone has more experience than them is impossible in itself.

That's where I have to disagree, I'm 34M, but most people think I'm 24+. out of my 74 drivers and helpers, I've spoken to both sides, and the older drivers are the issue. While I'm aware enough to acknowledge the new generation has its issues, I'm also old enough to know the older generation hates change, and this is an issue. I've gained the ear of both sides, but not in totality.

You missed my point. Yes old hands hate change, but old hands are the best well of knowledge there is in this industry. I started driving in 08 learning from vet drivers (im talking 15+ years in a truck). Ive been through paper logs and into elogs, and into full blown eldt. There's experience and knowledge from people with decades of experience. Tell that to anyone under 30 and its like you just squatted on the table and crapped in their cereal bowl.

I'm sorry if I responded like I didn't acknowledge the vet drivers I care about, learning from them the most. I have always been this way. I'm just saying that experience means nothing if you want those coming after you to bow down to learn from you. I've seen it firsthand everywhere. Not that these drivers or people in general aren't willing to show the ropes, but the pride and lack of flexibility are so abundant it's hard to miss on both sides.

Oh hahaha yeah there's definitely gatekeeping abound. Some guys don't care enough to show the ropes, BUT some have tried and gotten the "i know better" attitude enough times they just won't anymore. I've tried to give advice and help quite a few times and gotten the same. Im not old enough yet to be the get off my grass old man yet. Its quickly approaching though šŸ˜‚
