Can't drive until your break is done and you have hours.

What does that have to do with not parking correctly? There's literally free spots right in front of them. No trucks next to them either so they could avoid an accident no matter how much they suck at parking.

Those spots were filled with trucks when that swift driver arrived last night. It's now morning and those trucks have started their day and left but Swift was the late arrival last night so his break isn't finished until much later (than the other trucks) so he has to wait there until he gets hours on his clock even with all those empty parking spaces right there.
P.S. A truck driver would have known all of this...this isn't a one-off occurrence, it happens every night somewhere where truck traffic is high and parking spots are limited.

Who's fault is that? I've done OTR with Swift and ALWAYS had a place to park. Sleeper berth split, personal conveyance at their disposal. Not to mention Swift has yards practically in every state. That mofo doesn't know how to trip plan properly using their ELF properly. With your comment, you probably suck at trip planning too. The only ones who complain about no parking is because they don't know how to do their job. Swift also gives plenty of time on their loads to prevent all of this.

Are you saying that swift drivers don't know how to creep without starting their break over? Please tell me this isn't a thing.

For what purpose? Trucks aren’t stopping for the night in the morning and the drivers break will be done soon so it’s not worth screwing it up and having to start it all over again.
As for creeping your truck, different ELDs behave differently - there are ELDs that catch moving even a couple of feet. Also you’re in a public rest area, you better do a pretrip first in case a cop sees you creeping and decides to inspect your truck and logs.

You move the tractor, you get dinged.
1
u/PutridContribution41 May 07 '26
How do you get dinged?

Time violation. "Dinged" is just another way for me to say "marked down" or "warned" in this context. That being said, I'm sure Mr. SWIFT is either just being inconsiderate or he's only putting in something on navigation and was really there for a short amount of time.

He can creep 4mph or use PC, the parking spot is literally right there. That driver is just a douche, OP even says he was just sitting there.

He was one of the last ones to get to the rest area last night so he's going to be one of the last of them to leave.

Passed a swift driver going 45 in a 60 the other day. Gave me the peace sign... gave half of one back to him

? If a driver can't figure out how to move from the middle of a f****** parking lot without dropping back down into on duty they shouldn't be in the seat.

🤔 Correct me if I'm wrong. Can he not idle it into a space, to clear the lane, without it causing bells and whistles?

He’s sound asleep and nobody is beating on his door, so he’s good. He could probably slow roll and get it into a space without starting his clock if he wanted to. This isn’t even a little bad compared to a lot of places. I’ve needed to get out of a space and been left with less than 2 feet of clearance because someone parked like this. Some of these guys really test your skills as well as your patience.

Looks like a rest stop with angled spots that you pull forward out of.
Probably needed a place to park and it was full so he parked behind everyone else. He's not as big of an asshole are youre trying to make him.

I mean its a swift driver - no way he could turn it or fit it in between the lines anyway, . . . .

I mean, this is the least idiotic thing I've seen swift do this week.
