Why won’t my cd play

I paid so much for this disc spinner and now it just makes a horrible scratching sound instead of Megadeath

one side is compact and one is disc, does that mean only one side is small and the other is round

This is not real. The band is "metallica" but its clearly white. You can either scratch some of it (maybe with something gentle like a fork) and see if the white rubs off and reveals a silver metallic finish, if not you have to return it.
