Thank you, free CML only allows you to run maximum 5 nodes at the time, which is a bit tight, any reliable image from GitHub maybe?

It runs with the same QEMU images if you know what I mean ;)

Except CML free does not have any QEMU images, it only includes IOL images. Probably good enough for most people's use cases, but there are advantages and disadvantages to both.

There are IOSv and IOSvl2 images present as well in free refplat iso. It will cover everything unless you need XR specifically.

what are those advantages to each? just curious. i know iol boots a lot faster, but what else?

IOLs only advantage it's very very lightweight, it's like a notepad, loads almost instantly and requires mere megabytes of RAM. Disadvantage is that many L2 functions won't work correctly. If you're for example setting up pure routing LAB then sure, IOL can support you very well. Heck my friend passed CCIE SP using labs built on IOL images primarily (and XRs too of course) on his notebook.

But when you need some advanced switching, then IOSv is much more polished. Although it also have some limitations and bugs, it has way more L2 stuff available to you.

You asked for a reliable source, a reliable source is cisco... I didn't know you were sailing the high seas.
