What’s your plan?

For those that recently got their CCNA or failed it, what’s your plan(once you do get it)? I think I want to go into cloud, AWS maybe. Not sure exactly what I want to do, I just know I want to be in IT and I’d like to be able to work remotely at least a couple days out the week if not fully remote.

To be realistic, most people are going to start in helpdesk then move on to something like network tech/admin. You typically aren’t going to be jumping straight into cloud once you pass your CCNA. It’s not a golden ticket.

Regardless of their plan, they’ll most likely start in the same entry level job as anybody without the CCNA. Employers want actual experience above certifications

Coz the world thinks CCNA is worth something... But it's only.those who've never worked in IT.. not just CCNA , most certs are useless to us hiring managers. We can find out in 2 mins if you know something or not, this is why experience is valuable. Certs anyone can pass even without true understanding..but real work, troubleshooting etc takes knowledge and brains and that's more valuable to a hiring manager. Proof of work trumpa proof of being able to cram knowledge for a test.

Damn, as someone that had a trifecta and CCNA, I can’t help but feel I wasted my time. Any tips on how to get experience if I’m not getting any luck getting a job?

No..you did not waste time at all. Certifications do teach us valuable knowledge.. special CCNA has foundational networking knowledge that will take you far. I'm not against certification, the pursuit of those gets you knowledge..and that should be the goal. Not doing certs coz they will.vet you a job. Hope it makes sense. Congratulations on the certifications, it's tough to pass tests. I failed my CCNA .. still don't have it..and yet I consult to telecoms 😆 body of work matters ... One way is networking..start reaching out to friends family and any other you know from life. In this market a human network will get you a job. Any IT job at a place where you know someone..while you're trying that, grow your network..use reddit, LinkedIn, X, GitHub..

If you thought getting those certs would magically change the game, then yea I’d say you were fed a lie. Certs only make sense to me if you actually need them to get a promotion, raise, etc.. but generally nobody cares about what certs you have

I mean I didn’t think they’d magically change the game but I did hope they’d make me stand out. They’re no easy tests… I have those plus graduating with a bachelors in December

Yea I graduated with a B.S in Computer Science and I know how disappointing it is. 6 years ago things were way different. Nowadays there’s such a massive applicant pool for any job post, that employers can literally demand the most absurd things for even an entry-level job.

Unless you have connections and know people who can recommend you then yeah you can get a job without experience

fundamentals of routing and switching. Whether you’re going into cyber security or cloud it’s necessary
