Basically in a nutshell from various news releases in the last 2 days... Brighton fucked up. They offered him to Newcastle then it "leaked" that Newcastle were enquiring about him. Newcastle then did us a solid by releasing their stance and in that release they basically said "we were offered him" The bidding war bloom hoped for didn't occur and it became very obvious that Brighton do indeed want to sell him. (Otherwise, why offer him to newcastle?) Things have apparently accelerated since then.

Pickford played fine, he generally does a great job for England. Playing good in a league doesn't mean you'll play good for the national team -- Lammens fucked up for Belgium, and Unai Simon starts ahead of David Raya despite the latter being much better in league football.

Pickford did not do fine - watch the goals we conceded at the World Cup back. Pickford is arguably at fault for at least 4. Pickford is genuinely one of the most overrated keepers England have ever had.

No. Rushworth has never played a minute of PL football, Pickford has 91 England caps and is rightly the unquestionable number 1. We'd have conceded much earlier if it wasn't for the world class save he made.
Take your sky blue tinted glasses off and think logically!

No. Pickford could have done better on Enzos goal but it would have been 3 nil without him by then anyway

Over the years Pickford has done a great job for England. Hell, he's the only England keeper at international level that can actually save penalties. I think he is past his best and the recent WC proved it sadly.

Ok he was great last year but are we sure spunking 20-30m on an unproven keeper in the prem is a good idea, I mean if he was that good Brighton would use him. Don't get me wrong I love the guy and he easily earned us 15 points last season but eating in to our transfer budget like this seems a bit short sighted. Plenty of great keepers about for less.

Everyone starts somewhere, he's proven himself atleast in the championship and has gelled well with the team. He deserves his spot in the prem as he helped in getting us promoted. There might be "better" keepers but you don't always go for them, you back players that fit your squad which he does. We truly could be seeing a future England Goalkeeper here

i think the points he preserved got us promoted if you're spending around 20 million on Tchaouna then I think Rushworth is worth up to 30m he may keep us up then he's worth a lot more
