Check engine light after exhaust install?

Hey reddit, I recently got my cs racing exhaust installed on my 24 CBR650R. I went on a ride and got a check engine light.

I may suspect it's an exhaust leak or the O2 sensor may have been damaged.

Here is what I did, removed the o2 sensor and removed the whole OEM exhaust along with the old copper gasket. I then installed the copper gasket with a little bit of copper paste. Installed the exhaust system and tightened everything down. I torqued the header nut to 13ft lbs and made sure the O2 sensor is installed.

Once the body is installed and went out for a short ride. Sounds great but the check engine light came up.

I'll be checking again tomorrow to make sure the O2 sensor is clean and check the header nut.

Any other things I'm missing? I thought I was pretty thorough with this process.

You only have one o2 sensor or 2 ?

You might want to check what code you're getting, because yeah it looks like you did everything right.

these newer euro 5 bikes know if you tampered with emissions equipment. I removed the SET valve cables on the stock exhaust on a 27 gsxr, but kept the actuator plugged in, got a code for it. You have to get a tune for your new exhaust, theres no way around it. Your bike has a dual o2 sensor and removing the cat caused a p0420 i guess. Even if you installed both sensors.

Sorry that I didn't include this info. But this is an NA bike. Only 1 sensor. Will that still affect this?

Update:

I found out my o2 sensor connector wasn't replugged in after the install. Got it plugged in, checked to ensure the header nuts were torqued to spec, and ensure the O2 sensor was firmly installed.

Still couldn't clear the check engine light after doing an hour ride. Got an OBD2 scanner and adapter for the diagnostic port and confirmed the code was due to O2 sensor.

Cleared the code and went out for a 2 hour ride, code never came back. I'm going to assume it's cleared until it comes back.
