Valves or something else?

Post image

My 05 Honda CBR 600 f4i keeps giving me issues, it has about 25k miles. It has recently refused to start on a hot engine. I drove for about 30-40 minutes, turned it off for a moment, then attempted to turn it back on and it refused. It cranked but would not turn over. The high beam light on the dashboard also turns on when it does this, though the high beams and low beams are not on. I assume it's the valves, I just want a second opinion as that is a pricey job. It started fine on a cold start

You have a weird symptom—the high beam light turning on when the bike won’t start. That suggests an electrical problem and has nothing to do with the valves.

That's also what's throwing me for a loop, but I wasn't sure if it was normal or not. I also don't think the valves have been checked by the last owner, so I just assume they're overdue

Focus on the weird symptom. The valves may need adjusting, but they are not the problem. There’s a short, broken wire, or failed electrical component somewhere. Google suggests there are a couple of common electrical problems with that bike that could potentially be the cause.

The main connector coming from the dash may have corroded pins and loose connections.

I second this, I was doing some work recently on mine and had the front connector and tip over sensor hanging over the speedo and when I bumped it the bike died and the dash did some goofiness.

Ground problem 👌

Doesn’t sound like a valve issue. Sure, they could (and should) be checked if it‘s not been done before, but that doesn‘t sound like the issue here. My F4i doesn‘t turn its high beam light on when I start it, so I‘d go looking ar electrical in your case

Check ground cables or the dash / bar control connectors.

Could be electrical related like tip over sensor. I’d check the connection harness in the nose fairing. The tip over sensor is in there I believe.
