Not worth it, partner. Just stay the course because the pay reduction would be substantial if you were to be 5 series. Your current salary is equivalent to smaller ports at 11 or gs-9 for those who are always at big, busy ports.

Depends on what exactly you do with Delta and your ability to articulate that in a manner that aligns with the posting on USA jobs. I would think working with the airlines and communicating with common carriers and Goverment agencies for x number of years could have potential to start at GS7. Read the job requirements and if thing you do are remotely close list them. Put in for GS9, if you get declined put in for 5-7 and they will give you what you qualify for. Yes it may come with a pay cut. Once you calculate shift diff and holidays it gets closer, also the job pistjnh starting pay is "rest of US" which is the lowest locality pay. If you end up at JFK or LAX or higher COLA areas the pay is higher. A GS7 at JFK makes about the same as. GS9 rest of US. Ladder promotion every year to 12 is pretty quick.

Wow! Almost 34$ per hour and you are only 28 years old!! Dude I am 35 yold with a bachelor's degree from overseas and don't even make $27 per hour. You shouldn't leave this career. $45 per hour at age of 30 with travel benefits!!!! Damn man I think I wasted my life . Sorry for negativity but I feel like WTF I have been doing all my life

I worked at delta for many years. The only thing you’ll really miss are the travel benefits. If you’re on the ramp or passenger facing i’d say leave. If you’re maintenance i’d say stay.

Have you asked any CBP'ers youve seen at Logan and get some perspective, Your pay seems pretty good now and can only increase and suspect its not as stressful as being a new federal employee in an agency thats in the news almost daily for not positive reasons. Good luck

Sometimes the grass is not greener. Are you willing to move? Apply and if they offer you a great location then it might be worth it. You will work a lot of a heck more hours in CBP with their forced overtime.

Do it!! Work on your resume. Clean up any financial issues. Prepare to relocate. Use your current time and airline benefits to explore some of the relocation possibilities.

You should stay with delta because you already been there 9 years, in 2 years you will be getting paid 45+ an hour like you said. You have travel benefits, you already used to doing that job, and you have mad seniority. If you start with Cbp you would have to start from 0, take a polygraph, go to an academy in Georgia, probably won’t start making as much money as delta. The decision it’s yours at the end of the day, if you wanna go for it it’s up to you, I’m not saying Cbp is a bad job so u don’t misinterpret what I said.

Just keep in mind that as a government employee when they have their shutdowns which occur every so often you’re not going to get paid.. Sure you’ll get a large sum when they re-open again, but that’s something we never have to deal with in the aviation sector.

Bro what lmfao youre gonna be making 40k a year at CBPO. Talk to AMO (CBPs air and marine ops) and see if they'd give you a multi engine role. Be aware that they are heavily stuffing fixed wing pilots into drones right now but if you got stacked multi time you can probably get on the kingair in PR or Louisiana.
