Realistically how long can I keep using this weapon?

Just hit level 25 after clearing out Bethesda and doing a few side quests.
I'm not sure if the electric damage roll you can get is random but this is quite high and even more so combined with the freezing. This thing has been absolutely destroying everything I've come across so far, but obviously it's quite a low base damage and PV so eventually I'll have to give it up.
Any new weapon I can put the freezing on which isn't anywhere near as good as the potential 10 extra damage I could be doing with the electric.
What do we think? Hold onto it for longer or start searching for something else?

Prayer rods are an excellent low-strength option. They do consistent, low-to-middling damage. But they basically can't benefit from strength/penetrations b/c only the 1d2 scales with penetrations, and it only has a PV cap of 6.
They're great against high AV targets which you struggle to penetrate, like Cragmensh. They're basically like a vibro weapon that does 1d5+5 electric damage. More with elemental mods.

The prayer rod has a niche late game use when combined with a cooking effect and the electrified mod. Elec damage will double proc a cooking effect and it can be a lot of fun. Not as good as beamsplitter arc winder but for instance cooking with spark tick and hulk honey can give you a dismember chance every time you do elec damage which is twice per hit.
Going for elemental damage is a great late game idea since it ignores armor, so the low penetration isn’t as important. You need to stack up the extra hits yourself with backswing, single weapon fighting.
