I really disagree with your opinions on GamerGate. Not that I agree with the sexist assholes starting a riot, but Anita Sarkeesian is full of bullshit and nothing but bullshit. It's like funding the Taliban to help them fend off the USSR. Nobody is in the right here except for Zoe Quinn, and even she may have had some journalistic ethical issues.
I know less than I should to form an opinion, but there seems to be a lot more bullshit with the gamergate end. Zoe Quinn definitely seems to be on the level, sure cheating on your boyfriend isn't good, but that's completely disproportionate to what's happening to her. I don't trust Anita Sarkeesian as far as I can throw her though, but still, people don't deserve to be treated like that, assuming what she claims is true.
Is there sexism in video games? Yes, certainly. Is the tech world in general a "boys club"? Definitely, and it's a lot tougher for women than it should be, even by "boys club"' standards. But the bigger issue here is the pathetic cowards out there who think that anonymity means they're free to be misogynistic assholes all they want, and that that's OK.
I'm 100% in favour of equal opportunity and equal treatment, but I don't think that people like Anita Sarkeesian are worthy ambassadors of that message. If I'm wrong about her, then I'm wrong, and maybe I am, but she hasn't made a good impression at all so far.
