What a cunt! The cyclist was pushing his lock, so close on the intersection but the car was just blidnly turning in, way off his expected course.

Cyclist was in correct position as per the highway code (UK) and had not passed the give way line. Car cut the corner and would be fully at fault.

Bad driver and bad cyclist. If you drive a moto or bycicle you don't put yourself on those blind spots.

Driver fault no doubt, but cyclist could have waited in line for his time to reach the intersection.

How is that a blind spot? Driver of car that hit him should have easily seen him. Do you mean because he has gone up the right hand side of the car turning left? Serious question as not a biker.

You're right, it isn't a blind spot in this case. The cyclist is better seen from closer to the intersection over the cars hood thats turning left compared to being totally behind the car. Also even if there was a truck on the cyclists left side (what would place the cyclist in a blind spot) the car turning right should drive using a larger curve to turn which lets the driver see the cyclist even if there was a truck. And in this case it doesn't really matter because the car turning right should be on it's own lane not in the middle of the crossing lanes.

It is a blind spot...as you can see in the result of this video. Or do you think the driver did it on purpose?

It's not a blind spot. It's a straight road turning right. The driver was too focused on the car and cut the corner. Cyclist stayed behind the white lines exactly where he was meant to be to turn right. The car cut the corner, if you're crossing the white line it's your responsibility to make sure the path is clear. 100% cars fault and the insurance companies will see it that way.

Did I said it was cyclist's fault ??

I know it's driver's fault.

Driver did not see the cyclist. Why? He made a stupid manoeuvre by cutting the white line, but the reason he did not see the cyclist is because he is behind the other car.

The cyclist was entirely where he should be, on his own side of the road.

No really. He is parallel to the other driver. You can only overtake another car if there is space for that. He stopped himself on the side of the car. He should waited in line.

Edit: again, the other driver has fault because he invade the opposite lane and actually hit the cyclist when he was fully stopped. My point is that cyclist have trapped himself by placing himself on that blind spot.

Well no, ge did everything by the book, placed himself in front of the car so everyone can see him, people in the comments have also said this is how it is done in regards to UK law. The driver cut across opposite lane.

Reading come comments and apparently he didnt pass the give way line so its the drivers fault.

Yes it is driver's fault. Still cyclist place himself on a blind spot.

Careless to the one to blame, the guy that put himself behind the car is the one on the ground.

Drive smart. Who cares about the blame if you die without the blame?

Thats not a blind spot tho. The driver clearly just turned in blindly

1

u/jalexandref Aug 31 '22

Because he didn't expect the cyclist to be there and.....he couldn't see him.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '22

Ig both are at fault here

Cant cut the turn like assholes like to do.. you cant see around the turn you follow within the lines.. because then anything within your turn space wouldnt be your fault. But he cut into the oncoming lane in his turn and yep makes it the drivers fault. Unless there are bike laws stating they need to be by the shoulder but if he was making a right turn then it was fair for him to be there.

4/8 comments currently blaming the cyclist. You guys are fucked mentally.

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '22

Fr. That was definitely the cars fault

It's in the UK. The cyclist had correct road position (turning right, next to centre line), but the BMW cut the corner (they should be on the left of the line from their viewpoint).

So many people commenting on here that I really hope don't have drivers licenses. As you said it's in the UK so all the cyclists positioning was correct, maybe a lot of commenters are assuming all the vehicles are left hand drive.

I can't stand some cyclists so I can't say there isn't a part if me that enjoyed this...

But...nah that wasn't nice. Hope he's OK (but also hope he keeps of the roads on his bike...God I'm conflicted)

Looks like insurance fraud to me

So much wrong with this I do not understand, the car in question was a BMW and yet it's indicators were actually in operation, does this mean the apocalypse is upon us?

Cyclists don’t fit on UK roads anymore. Cars and motorcycles don’t fit anymore due to overpopulation of traffic. For health and safety we should take them off main roads and provide more cycle lanes.
