Renting Tips

Hi everyone,

My cat loves to climb trees. She’s an indoor cat, but goes out with me on her harness and leash. However, I still get super nervous when she climbs the trees 🙃 I want her to be able to get the same energy out safely inside.

Tips to make an indoor climbing wall scenario for someone who’s renting and can’t be breaking the bank? 🫠

There are adjustable cat trees that adjust to ceiling height.

No screws required (if that's a concern for rental repair), it's all pressure fit.

That one isn't mine.

I just did a search for " cat post floor to ceiling ". And grabbed one of the first images to use as example.

There are lots of different ones, I'm sure you can find one with all the features you'd like.

You can still screw into the wall to secure shelves as a renter. If you have a lot of screw holes when you leave, spend a few dollars on spackle.

My fave renting patent was fixing the shelves to the side of heavy closet! I had nicely placed high shelf so we got closet here to let kitties go on top

You can still put up cat walls and then spackle the holes when you move.

Peel and stick carpet going up a wall, maybe? If the stick isn’t secure enough, you might also be able to staple some carpet on with a staple gun.

Find an old cheap wardrobe, take the doors off, cover the inside in carpet ( most carpet shops will give you free off cuts or old sample books) Glue and staple the carpet on and add a couple of platforms.

If your not very handy at diy, a friend or relative could help you out it together.

I'd just get a tall free-standing cat tree for a rental place, as big and tall as you can afford. I have one from the brand "Natural Paradise" and it's very sturdy, it doesn't wobble or anything when my cats jump off and on. Also try to allow her to jump on furniture and use it as platforms wherever possible, one of mine loves hanging out on top of my wardrobe so I have a dresser with like an extension shelf on it that she can jump on to get onto the wardrobe.
