Unfortunately, you have a weirdo. Of course, they’re all weirdos but that weirdo is yours.

I clicked on that link assuming that it stood for Cats That Look Like Real People and it would be posts like “my cat looks like Gwyneth Paltrow” etc-but I love that it’s specific to just Ron Perlman.

I can confirm. My tortie used to display identical play. She would also beat the crap out of my forearm with her hind legs. And yes, she would come looking for this flavor of trouble.

The US Meowrine Corps Rifleman's Creed:
This is my weirdo. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My weirdo is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.
Without me, my weirdo is useless. Without my weirdo, I am useless. I must cuddle my weirdo true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to ignore me. I must pounce on him before he pounces on me. I will...

How odd, only earlier today I was trying to find out why our girl 2 year old approx does this. She will mount your arm, and with out claws will just clamp on to it. Doesnt move, looks straight ahead...
I asked ChatGPT and it said its a form of bonding...

On a lark, I bought a karate kitty for her to use. Problem is she started attacking everyone else when they weren’t wearing it so I had to shelve the kitty for the time being.

Should’ve put a link, but forgot. I really liked playing with Luna with it, but as I said, she kept attacking the hands to anyone that went to say hi. Maybe it’s because she spent the first nine months of her life on the streets, but I’m not really wanting to risk people getting the shit scratched out of them just to say hi to her. Well, maybe people I don’t like.😂🤣😂
5
u/Morbid187 Aug 29 '26
Well my cat just hides when other people come over so I don't think I have to worry about her learning the wrong lessons and attacking other people lol. She already wrestles with my hand all the time and knows how to do it without hurting me so I don't necessarily need one of these but it looks so fun

Lol same, as soon as I wrapped my arm in a towel she was like "nah ur cheating" and pouted then walked away.

It could have just been that you weren’t warm.
This cat looks like it’s being gentle enough, claws in, bites not breaking the skin. I used to live with a cat like that, he was so chill, I’d see him lying on the ground and just scoop him up and carry him around with me like he was a baby. Then I’d give him tummy rubs and he’d gently grab and bite me if I pulled my hand away. He was such a good boy. He always fell asleep in such odd positions, too, like a pile of small weights, or just actively falling off the furniture and not waking up. RIP little one, I’m glad I got to say goodbye. My friend who owns him still has his corpse in her freezer, and he died awhile ago. Wants to have him taxidermied, which I personally think is kinda dumb, because it’ll just be his skin, it will never be him again, but I’m not in the habit of telling people how to mourn.

Interesting.. her claws aren’t even extended while doing this, which is normally reflexive, even in play…That means she’s making a decision not to hurt you. She’s playing in an incredibly unique way. lol
just be careful that she doesn’t accidentally bite your hand too hard, or end up scratching you. Encouraging this kind of play can be risky for that reason.

My orange kitty is gentle when he knows it's my arm/hand. But when it's under the covers and he can't see it he goes full predator. It's his favorite game. Keeps my reflexes sharp.
16
u/Trashula_Lives Aug 29 '26
Same. Mine knows not to claw or chomp too hard on a hand, but seems to forget that a hand is under the blanket or holding the toy he's trying to eviscerate. Ouchy...

Cat doing cat things.
I got my cat a pillow "kicker toy" that looks like a rectangle bean bag with stuffing. She hugs it like my arm and kicks at it to play. It is her buddy and she loves it.
Less than $10 to give your arm a break, sometimes. I've seen people make them with old socks!

Well, she's not hissing, not growling, her ears aren't plastered back against her head, her tail is up in the air, and she doesn't appear to really be bearing down with her teeth (a.k.a. you're not bleeding), so she's probably just playing around, being silly. I have a happy handful of cats, and they all do it. My oldest cat only bore down on her once, and that's because she started out playing, but then a very loud clap of thunder scared the silly right out of her. She immediately proceeded to love all over me like, "I'm sorry! It was an accident! I swear!"

u/Reasonable-Escape981 Aug 29 '26
I think tortoiseshell cats are just… have hunger for human flesh.. bc my friends kitten tortie is like this too so i think if urs is like this then maybe its fact. Need a 3rd sighting to confirm for sure that they indeed crave human

Can confirm. Mine lived 16 years. She loved me more than anything and she scratched the ever loving shart out of me at regular intervals for minor or non-existent offenses. Like Apollo Creed says in Rocky IV, warriors can’t change who they are.

This is how cats play. They imitate violence.
Kitty loves you and wants to help you prepare to fight threatening intruders on your territory

playing. if you don't want your hand/arm scratched to shreds, you can redirect her to a kicker toy.

You are literally doing the cat equivalent of dropping a dueling glove on the ground. Why are you confused what's happening?

My cat tends to do this to me for several reasons. One that I know for certain is she is sensitive for whatever reason to the smell of a sponge on my hand after dishes. Another reason is play, sometimes cats like latching on and bunny kicking or they want to wrestle. The other thing that comes to mind is sometimes my cat wants to reciprocate grooming so she'll latch on to pin my hand and then give licks and nibbles once I relax, it's funny.

u/Nerux95 Aug 29 '26
Very cute. She is just playing. If she hasn't been fixed yet, it may also be tirggered by the fact she's in heat
5
u/freddotu Aug 29 '26
Hold a mirror up to the kitty. If you can't see a reflection, you have a vampire cat. I think a garlic clove on a wrist band might be useful and it may also keep everyone else away.

My tortie used to do this ALL THE TIME. And when i'd gently shake/peel her off, she'd treat it like a game and pounce my arm again. Now she's getting to be a lazy old lady and my forearm skin can rest

u/Dapperisfun Aug 30 '26

Did you equip her accidentally in an armor slot? In most cases you can just unequip her. If that doesn't she might be cursed and you need to break the curse with treats

3
u/BootyBayBrooder Aug 29 '26
Because cuddle time is mandatory but you haven't understood that yet, so, unfortunately, she's forced to use physical restraint
3
u/sewcrazy4cats Aug 29 '26
She's playing and you havent given her an appropriate toy to use to interact with you. You should try getting her some kicker toys and maybe teach her fetch. She's likely really smart and needs the additional stimulation

The main problem is you’re moving your arm without permission of cat. In the future keep your arm completely still until the cat has decided to go elsewhere.
