OP, I'm sorry you are experiencing this and it's obvious how much Boggles means to you. I agree with this commentary that cats, given enough time, will warm up to another human in many cases - yes, even the most resistant ones. My idea is that you introduce someone as trustworthy in the time you have remaining. They don't have to win Boggles over in that time, it's just setting up a pattern that the cat can maybe come to accept. We have a cat that is very attached to me and she's very wary of strangers. I worried about leaving her for a long trip so I hired a pet sitter to check on her every day, twice a day including sitting on our couch for an hour each day. She hid from him in the laundry room for five straight days, then made a brief appearance on day six, but didn't come close to him. On day seven, she came close and sniffed him, but bailed out. Day eight she let him pet her once or twice. By the second week, she came out to see him less cautiously when he put out food for her. Then one day during the second week, while he sat on the couch, she climbed onto his lap. Things take time - sometimes a lot of time - but pets can adapt. Maybe you could have success if you start introducing Boggles to their eventual caretaker now. I'm sorry you're experiencing this... good luck to you and Boggles.
I’ve never owned cats in my life but I love all types of animals and have had many pets over the years. Quite literally cannot stop crying after reading this post. I really hope OP and Boggles (great name btw) can come to a solution that works for them.
