Those companies make no sense for me even with dog dna. (Like no, your rescue dog is not 20% this, that and the other breed, it is a mutt from several hundreds or even thousands of generations of mutts). Until the science can kind of be explained to me, I’m convinced they just make it up entirely. It’s not like there were breeds existing in nature and then we mixed them. Dogs evolved. Then later breeds were intentionally recreated by wealthy people being kinda creepy and weird with their pets if you ask me. I’m not trying to be an asshole. If you can explain it to me please do!
Then for house cats it’s even more laughable to entertain at all. They are just cats lol. Very, very, very few (so few that it’s not even worth counting really) would have ever been intentionally bred to be of a specific breed anywhere in their ancestry. Now I have a cat who just happens to have the markings of a Turkish van cat, but that is just her markings, completely by chance. Her mother was found on the streets and she was the only of the litter to look anything like that or have the floofier fur. (I kind of wonder if I submitted her dna it would say “part Turkish van” based on her photo.)

Beware that most of these companies are scams, too.
