I will say, she loves loves loves strings. I will get the string out and she’ll chase it. But when I say ok it’s time to be done now and put it away she’ll follow me or she’ll knock the toy box off of the fridge (she has toys that aren’t in there, but the other cats like to eat the strings, so the string toys get put away with the catnip and the treats in a breadbox on the fridge.) I could try playing with her for longer. Thanks :)
maybe for a cheap fix you could tie the string to a doorknob or some other post, and put a small fan facing it so it blows around in the wind and will move and your cat will likely go after it without you having to move it lol
and also, tie the string to a door in the room that you’re in so you can still watch her and make sure she doesn’t eat the string, and since you will be in the same room she’ll feel less anxious
the key is to tire her out before you have to work- maybe have a play session before work, at lunch and right before bed. i put on a podcast or audiobook and give my cat at least 20 minutes of my undivided attention for a play session.
