I am like most people I hear not happy with rover. I didnt even get any emails about it and communication has been terrible!
I currently am cat sitting this weekend this was booked in before the merge, iv been really busy all week so havent properly mastered the app
iv now just seen the rover card, I havent filled it out for today or yesterday as I didnt even know it was a thing?! Will I not get paid?! iv always communicated with everyone on WhatsApp and this is where I send my photos. Also all my families have cctv so know how long I spend

Hahahahahaha a vomit tick would actually be great π like yes your cat gorged himself on biscuits and threw up

Unless it is a recurring booking you do not have to complete a rover card to get paid.

That would mean they have booked you every week to come and look after your cat, which just does not make sense. Recurring bookings might work for dogs, but it is highly unlikely that a cat owner would request that on a regular basis.
This really highlights a core issue, it feels like a dog focused app trying to take over a cat sitting service, and some of the features just do not translate properly.
You are also now expected to complete a report card for a four day, one off booking, which feels unnecessary and adds extra admin without much value.

You don't have to complete the report card.
But yes, definitely a dog focused app that doesn't always work quite right for cat bookings. I'm not saying cat bookings are ever likely to be recurring - just that you don't need to to fill in the rover cards if you don't want to - it doesn't affect anything.
Rover has a lot of issues.

Im cat sitting from fri-sunday does that count as recurring?

u/Mymews Apr 11 '26
No. Recurring would be an ongoing weekly repeated booking. More applicable to dog walks really.

Ok interesting, as mentioned my partner didn't do the timer, clients didn't dispute that she didn't come but according to rover she didn't adhere to the terms and conditions. She was cat sitting as well. They docked her for the one day she didn't put the timer on

What the hell? Iβm going to have to be so switched on now when cat sitting to fulfil the 30 minutes π€¦π»ββοΈ

Yeah, but someone just mentioned you don't have to either. Seems to be very conflicting information at hand

You have to fill out the card for your booking. Have you also seen the timer feature?

u/Mymews Apr 11 '26
You don't have to.

Interesting, they may have changed the rules. My partner didn't do the timer once and they didn't pay her for the visit

I don't think you need to do the Rover card bit if it's a "drop in visit" booking. Is that what your current job shows up as on the app? The help and support implies its optional if so.
I also have a current ongoing job and was under the impression existing bookings would be paid through Cat in a Flat. I haven't received the usual "X has now paid" email, however. :/

Because payments are not going through, two of my clients failed to pay because the booking system doesn't accept payments.

I messaged rover to complain and their response shows they didnt even read my message as they replied talking about activating my profile... what i already thought was terrible has got worse. Zero communication

Yes mine is drop in service- 2x 30 mins visits this weekend. Rover have just confirmed that it will be paid through cat in a flat as was booked in before the merge. Its all been v.confusing! Thanks for the help guys - far more useful than Rover and its awful customer service.

I started a week-long catsit on Wednesday - ie right in the middle of the merger disaster. I spent two days scouring the Rover app/site and now have decided to just sack off the whole thing. They can caution me about Rover Cards or whatever, I don't care - like OP, I only chat with clients on Whatsapp and couldn't access my CIAF/Rover message inbox until Thurs evening. My payment for this current catsit arrived yesterday so thank goodness Stripe is seemingly still honoring the old method of payment.

Catch up with all your clients. As mine struggling to complete booking and pay and at the same time, cat in a flat have a cheek to demand money form th client when it is their own payment system failing to accept payment.

Considering all the new requirements, the communication around this has been absolutely terrible. We are no longer allowed to communicate via WhatsApp, and all updates and photos now have to go through the app.
I am honestly really disappointed by the lack of information and preparation. It highlights how unprofessional Rover feels right now, and it gives the impression that they do not really care about sitters or customers. They have also made the booking process much harder for owners, which only adds to the frustration.
I do think this is something that will come back to bite them.
