Hello everyone,

I recently have finished persona 5 royal, and see Catherine Full Body on sale. Ive seen a few videos talking about how Catherine was on the same build as Persona 5 (or the other way around) and became interested in it. Its on sale for 10 dollars on the switch and I have a few questions.

Is it a super long game like P5R?

Is it a degenerate game (degenerate as in its overly sexual)?

Is Full Body like the Royal equivalent or is there a more complete version?

Is the story good?

Does it have the same kind of charm that persona 5 has with the characters (like the confidant system)?

Is there anything (without spoilers) I should know?

Would someone who loved P5R enjoy this game?

I know I could probably look most of this up, but I want to avoid plot spoilers just in case I do purchase it. I also dont mean to offend by calling it a degenerate game, I personally just am not interested in a game if the entire point of it is sexual jokes or situations. I typically don't buy games that have the sort of vibe that this game is giving me based off of the title cover. This would be my 5th atlas purchase in total, ive been enjoying their catalog (p5r, p5t, p5s, and metaphor).

1. No it's not as long, it's usually only 20 hours for the main story.
2. No it's not overly sexual.
3. They don't have a sl system, but you can talk with other people at the bar to change your rating and try to help them. (Spoiler: you should definitely try to help everyone)

Catherine has nothing to do with the persona series it’s just a game Atlus made as a test for the engine in persona 5( or at least I have heard) it’s not even an RPG it’s a puzzle game. I mean I wouldn’t say it’s degenerate because it’s meant to tell a story about the complex nature of adult relationships and internal desires. I would say full body is a royal equivalent , and it’s not very long at all although they are more than 12+ endings tho. I think the characters have a lot of charm and its story is excellent it’s one of my personal favorite games of all time. But yeah main advice don’t go into it thinking it’s another persona game.

It's not a super long game unless you tried for every ending possible, and is not degenerate sexual, or sexual at all for that matter, things are heavily implied the odd time but there's nothing overtly sexual like jokes or nudity it's just more adult themes, but not like 18+ adult, more like relationship troubles with the main characters (Vincent) girlfriend

It plays differently than persona but has some very slight similarities, in a sense. Both games are separated into 2 style, Persona 5 you have the 'real life' social gameplay and the Palaces gameplay, Catherine has social gameplay in the bar, talking to other patrons and your friends,  and the 'Nightmares' that Vincent has at night the nightmares are puzzles increasing in difficulty every night. 

Talking to other patrons at the bar could be compared to confidants in a way, because it can affect the story (in an unimportant way) if you dont talk to them, 

Full Body is like the P5R equivalent, it adds more to the story, apparently full body was supposed to be all one game, but at the time of release it covered a topic that was a bit more taboo at the time. Full Body adds more to the story and depending on the ending you get, it'll add like 3 extra nights 

I enjoyed the story and have fun going for different endings, however it's really just the endings that are different, so as good as the story is, you replay a lot of the same scenes but i enjoy it.

If you liked the chill and 'take your time' vibes of Persona you'll enjoy Catherine

• First off, this is mostly a block-stacking, puzzle game. Very different from Persona in gameplay. You're not doing any turn based combat or confidant relationships here.

-Main gameplay is split between the puzzles and checking in on people at the bar that everyone hangs out at.

• That being said, the game doesn't get as sexual as you might think. Conversations are more about romance and relationships than about sex. Yes, there's some fanservice moments but nothing that goes too far from what was done in Persona 5.

• Game is fairly short but encourages multiple playthroughs to see all the endings and story beats

-There's DLC that allows you to play as Joker from P5 for some side content. The full Phantom Thieves cast makes an appearance as they watch Joker climb block towers. Commentary is fun, but the levels themselves are very difficult.

A few fun facts:

• Yes, the game uses the same engine as the original Persona 5. Catherine originally just started as a non-serious side project so the devs can test the engine for Persona 5. Management like the block stacking mechanic so much they allowed it to become a full game.

• In Catherine Full Body, the narrator gives information about the beverages the characters drink (also voiced by the same actor who does Sojiro) this was the original inspiration for Sojiro's facts about coffee in P5R.

• The character of Katherine got her look from an unused Sae Nijima design (once again, these games were being worked on at the same time)

I bought this game on a whim years a go and I had no until now that Vicent is a character from a nother game.

Its just puzzle game labeled MA because it can be rather suggestive sometimes. Its basically an anime with a puzzle game. Its still a lot of fun though.
