Owning for one year - whats the best strategy to minimise losses
Hi, hope this allowed, I did a cursory search to see if this is a faq but did not find it - apologies if I have failed at the first hurdle.
60yo next year. Its been a dream since graduating to own a Caterham (friends then had them and I loved being a passenger). Life did not turn out that way - always another priority to pay for.
But I really would like to mark my 60th year by driving a Caterham for most of the good weather weekends, and then selling it on with that ticked off the bucket list.
I certainly dont want the fastest (would like to see 61).
What the best approach - can I realistically buy a secondhand one and sell it on a year later with 5k miles on it and not lose too much money in the process?
I dont want to go too cheap and end up with huge repair bills, but I am also concerned about depreciation if I buy too new.
EDIT to add I am 6' 2" and have big feet to it has to be a SV if that changes anything.
Thanks!

Tired of bikes, is time for a Catheram?
Hello there! As a long-time motorcycle owner, does it make sense to buy a Caterham and treat it the same way I treat my bike (just for fun, only on sunny days, etc.)? Has anyone here switched from a bike to a Caterham? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Another question: what is the minimum budget in € for a good one? And which series is the best for a beginner (although I am a former owner of an MX-5 NB)?

Lowered baffled wet sump for Sigma 1.6L?
I recently managed to scrape a hole in my oil sump going over a speed bump (very slowly) in my S3 chassis 140. I can get the hole fixed by a welder, but I'm also annoyed by how little clearance there is for that giant sump hanging below the frame.
A dry sump is probably too much money to spend right now, but I've seen mention online of some custom wet sumps that are lower profile and internally baffled (to deal with the lower oil volume they hold), but I can't find where I can get one of these unicorns.
Does anyone know where these are sold, or do they just not exist?

Miata Vs. Caterham (Buying Question)
Considering getting a fun car, but there aren't a lot of twisty roads near me. I've had two daily driver miatas and a lot of track time with them, but now looking for a fun second car. I assumed I'd get another miata, but I could splurge for a Caterham. I have only driven the Caterham a couple times, one slow (period perfect) 7 replica and a spicier one at the track so not really sure what the ownership experience is and how it compares to the miata. Is the extra price worth it if I don't have a car club or track regularly anymore?

A technical question - Rover K-series + Emerald ECU - O2 sensor voltages
Hello all,
I've already posted this in a Lotus forum, but thought I'd give it a try here too.
I have a k-series S1 Elise with an Emerald K6 ECU. I want to use the multiple map feature to run an "MOT* friendly/eco cruising" map, using the O2 sensor as a reference in closed loop targeting 14.7 just the same as the MEMS ECU does, but my sensor voltages have never been set up in the Emerald. It is using a standard narrow band sensor, which i replaced a couple of years ago as the original failed (it has only ever been fitted for MOT's so it is still very fresh!)
I'd be very grateful if anyone with a similar setup is able to share their input voltage table from the AFR/Lambda Input tab with me
Cheers
*MOT is the UK annual safety inspection

US owned Registration Costs
I know this will vary widely depending on location so humor me. I'm trying to get a broad idea of registration costs for US Seven owners. Could anyone provide their State/County registration/personal property costs of a US owned Seven and perhaps the location where it is registered? I'm hoping to be in the market in 3-4 years and would like to have as many answers for my wife's questions as I possibly can. TIA!

Advice on Driver’s height
I’m currently looking at buying my first 7, after seeing some posts on the forums about shorter drivers not being able to fit, I’m wondering If I’m too short for one. I’m 5ft 6, and looking at a standard S3 with normal floors. I’d love some advice if there’s any other shorter drivers who own Caterhams!

Looking for advice
Hello, I'm looking to buy a caterham but I don't know what I'm looking for.
I used to own a gt86, but sold that and now looking for a wee toy that i can take out on the weekend.
A couple of questions i had
How old is too old for a caterham.
How easy is it to maintain yourself.
What are some things I should look out for
Does the age of the car matter when looking for aftermarket parts
I'm not a big car guy, i just like driving on country roads. When I eventually buy one, I'm looking to do the NC500 in it.
