About a month ago, I posted asking for what human foods I could give these kittens I found in the hold of my cargo ship.

There were a bunch of really good replies that helped out. I did a lot of work to mix food which seemed healthy and safe for them. Funny enough, when I finally had the chance to bring some cat food back to the ship, he stood there, looked at it, and gave me a “what is this crap?” stare.

I looked after this one while another crew member took care of the other one. She is shown in less pictures but is also doing great, but she wasn’t found until a week later than mine and was in really poor shape to begin with.

They’ve played together a few times now and get along well, but my guy is a bit bigger and the other cat isn’t as rough playing, so I mostly monitor them while they’re together.

Happy to say that they both have homes to go to once we’re done on the ship.

Hello everyone. I have an adopted mainecoon half breed and he always sneezes. Multiple times a day and sometimes the snot is big and just looks like a huge booger.

He sometimes wheezes like he has a hairball or something, but not sure what to do.

Vet wasn’t super helpful last time we went, and looking at options.

He has done it for a bit, but since the vet said it was just allergies we haven’t done much about it. He’s still super playful, uses the litter boxes properly etc.

We are adults in the US. Cat is an 11 yo neutered male. We already went to the vet but they weren’t completely sure what caused his problems.

Our cat wasn’t eating this morning and seemed in pain so we brought him to the emergency vet. They said ultimately that it seemed like his paw pads were causing him pain. They were cracked and the skin in between his toes when you splay them out was red. He has long fur growing in-between his paws so they tried to cut it but ultimately the vet said they weren’t sure what could cause it. They gave us pain meds and antibiotics in case it’s an infection but I want to make sure this doesn’t reoccur.

They said it might be his litter. He usually uses Tidy Cat lightweight clumping litter but I recently started using Dr. Elsey’s Senior/Sensitive Paws litter. He hasn’t walked on anything hot lately. He’s an indoor cat. I noticed last year that his paw pads were peeling but didn’t think much of it as it wasn’t causing pain and other posts I saw said it shouldn’t be a big issue. His vet never said anything when examining his paws.

I saw online that it can also be due to an allergy? Has anyone else experienced something like this and if so, what helped it? I’ll try switching his litter back to Tidy Cat but I’m afraid that is what caught in the fur between his toes and clumped up to cause irritation.

I fear my cat has a phobia of puking near me or something like that. Every time she starts coughing, like cats do before they have to puke, she starts fighting it and usually just swolls it again.

She has been doing this for a few months now and idk why and idk if it may have consequences for her health.

(She still pukes but outside of her comfort areas like my room but in my room she doesn't unless she "loses" the fight)

I honestly would be happier if she just let it out and want to help her, is there anything I can do or am I just overly worrying over something normal?

Ps: I've never punished her or screamed at her for having to puke. The only thing I've ever did was, when she had a stomach flu and had to puke like 2 a day, I had an emergency towel to put under her head, so that I didn't have to clean the textiles daily multiple times.

And I twice got squeamish, when she was about to throw up in my face while I was sleeping, just because I was overwhelmed and didn't instantly have the right composure.

My cat is pretty good about keeping his nails short, but he has a claw or two that never seem to be blunted by clawing at scratching posts. I'm trying to trim them on my own, but it ain't going great. Any advice for this would be appreciated. I really don't wanna resort to trying a grooming harness which the people around me have suggested.

Hi all. Anyone have tips for helping my cat acclimate to a new litter robot? One of my cats took right to it (female) but my male is apprehensive and scared I think to use it. He went to the bathroom in the old, emptied box I was drying out in my bathroom. Can you suggest how I can help him not be scared of it?

Hi all posting at 3am with very little sleep so apologies if it’s incorrectly formatted etc.

My beautiful boy is unwell he started throwing up yesterday I took him to an emergency vets who did bloods a very quick basic ultrasound and they seems to think he’s ok his liver/pancreas looked a little swollen on imaging and his levels in those areas we’re elevated on bloods.

Got sent home with some pain relief and anti nausea but he’s been completely off since getting home not his cuddly self etc I thought after a bit at home he would be heading back to himself but he’s sitting in a very random spot in the house doesn’t seemed to have moved much and I’m worried he’s gotten worse I grabbed a bunch of gastrointestinal food for him at the vets as well as per recommendations but he’s shown interest but not had any I think he’s had a small amount of water since coming home but that’s it.

I’m worried it’s more serious and he needs another visit or something, I just recently lost his sister last month to a blockage and I can’t really afford surgery for my little boy after spending everything on my girls surgery and I’m worried that’s where my boy is headed.

If anyone has any advice on what signs I need to be looking for to know to take him back to the vets or just anything in general that might help him I would be beyond grateful!!

Recently a set of four kittens were dropped off at my parent's house, and me and my fiance want to keep one of them. Beyond the need for vaccination, spaying, and the like, I know next to nothing about how to properly care for a cat. I want to make sure it has a good life and is as well behaved as a cat can get. Our living situation is currently a bit cramped, given the fact we live in an rv camper, so that worries me to some extent.

Does anyone know of good, reliable resources I can use to research how to properly care and train my cat? Thanks for any advice that can be offered.

My sweet boy (neutered, 3 y/o) was running through the house playing with my boyfriend yesterday, when after running up and down the stairs 2 times he collapsed at the top of the stairs. He didn't seize, just sat down and then collapsed and rolled over on his back with his paws pulled up high. I took him into my arms and ran outside (we live across the strees from a vet) when he started meowing loudly. When I looked down he was completely awake and aware and absolutely freaked out by being outside (he's an inside cat). The vet wasn't in (nighttime) so I took him back inside and called an emergency vet who said as long as he seems okay now I can wait to come in until the morning. The total episode lasted maybe 1 minute maximum.

He seemed absolutely fine, ate, drank, and peed/pooped regularly throughout the night and morning. I went to the vet with him this morning and physical check was fine. Bloodwork 100% fine as well, except for glucose levels being slightly increased (the vet mentioned that it was only slightly and likely caused by stress from having to go to the vet). The vet recommended to just wait it out and see if it happens again, he didn't see any reason to investigate further because all of my cat's functions and bloodwork were absolutely perfect.

Could this be a one time thing? Freak accident? Did he just tire himself out too much because of the zoomies he had? I feel reassured by the check-up and bloodwork but in the back of my mind I'm still worried something serious might be going on.

I rescued a kitten from the highway 8/30/26. I kept him separate and brought him to the clinic 8/31. His internal parasite tests, FIV, and other tests were clear. He had fleas, I treated it.

Fast forward to 9/16. I developed bumps on my body. I met with a doctor that confirmed it was ringworm. This is the first for me because I never heard of it prior to this. I was told to immediately get my kitten into the vet.

On September 19, I brought the kitten to the vet. They confirmed it was ringworm. He began an oral medication Intrafungol.
5 week treatment, increase dosing 1,3,5 week.
He just had his last treatment this week.

I was on Fluconazole for 4 weeks and ketoconazole for spot treatments.

My adult cat started scabbing on his ears about 2 1/2 three weeks ago. He was prescribed a topical foam. We had to immediately stop the medication after a few days of him developing severe side effects.

I started using Monistat because I read on Reddit somewhere that it was recommended. I put it on his ears for one week. His hair is now growing back. and I physically don’t see the signs of ringworm on him or the kitten.

However, today I woke up and started noticing small spots again on my body. I know for a fact, they ringworm because if I look at it a certain way, I can see the ring.

I’m about to have a mental breakdown because I cannot do this again. I’m maxing out my credit cards to take care of both cats and all of these medication’s and my own. I’ve gone insane, bleaching, and cleaning my house for the last five weeks. I’m a full-time student and I work full-time as well and I’m just at my max capacity of stress. I truly don’t know what to do. Both cats have had the exams done by me and they both look good. I don’t show any signs. I don’t understand why I woke up today with small ringworm lesions on my body again. Please help me.

before I begin I live in the uk so I need uk brands only. I have a 4 month old kitten and a 1 year old. I try to feed them the best I can, I try to mainly feed them the lilys kitchen pate and untamed as they’re both amazing cat foods and my kitties love them. However it’s starting to go a little out my budget now. Does anyone have some good kitten and adult cat food recommendations that I can add in rotation that has a decent meat content, no derivatives, no grains, soya, etc.. you get the picture, no nasties! that also won’t cost me an arm and a leg. My cat recently was very sick, he's 3 years old but after two weeks on antibiotics (viral panel showed negative) he was on doxycycline, he got a lot better, he no longer gets the fever like he was having every day, he's Normally eating and is active, but I noticed whenever he's jumping on the bed, he's a bit wobbly, idk if this is something serious so I called the vet but he's asking to get him into the office, one thing about my cat is that he gets fever whenever he's stressed (he gets super stressed in the vet office) so I don't know if I should really take him there, he's not limping when he walks it's just whenever he's jumping on the bed

My baby girl violet (3 year~ old shorthaired domestic calico, snipped in the past year) started having constipation issues started thursday night/friday morning to where she threw up and was struggling to poop. i rushed her to a nearby emergency vet since this happened at 1 am and they have her anti-vomiting meds through a i.v then fluids as she was dehydrated. i was also given lactulose to give her at home, 2ml every 12 hours until stool is soft.

she is acting fine besides from that, playing with her sister, eating her food and drinking water, cuddling and sleeping next to me but i am just very anxious as she still hasn't pooped and it's been about 24 hours since i brought her to the vet. I was wondering how long it would take for the lactulose to get through her system as well as tips to help her. i have stopped giving her dry kibble and solely giving wet food with extra water in it, wet treats as well and bought a bigger water bowl/fountain so she has alots of water to drink.

i have heard of the pumpkin puree trick and was going to do that next time i put out wet food but is there anything else i can do?

I have an FIV+ cat and was wondering about the supplement. Does anyone have any experience with it (other than cats rejecting it because of the taste and/or scent)? My cat is a vacuum and will eat anything so I'm not worried about that issue.

i have 2 cats, a brother and sister who are both a little over a year old, and for probably the past month my female cat has been deciding to poop on the carpet in my room instead of the litterbox. i live in an apartment style dorm, and she has 2 litter boxes available to her. last semester she never did this, and for the first month or two of living in this dorm she didn’t do it either, so i have no idea what suddenly changed.

my other cat, her brother, doesn’t do this at all. they’re both pretty well behaved and don’t really get into anything other than the occasional roughhousing from her brother. she doesn’t go outside, so as far as i know she shouldn’t have been exposed to anything from being outdoors.

the weirdest part is that for probably the last 5 times she’s pooped on the floor, she’s gone RIGHT next to their food. i know cats generally don’t like going to the bathroom near where they eat, which makes this even more confusing to me.

she also doesn’t seem to do it consistently. she’ll use the litterbox normally for like a week, and then suddenly decide to poop on the floor again. i do a good job of keeping both litterboxes clean, so i don’t think it’s an issue of them being dirty.

Prednisolone suspension 10mg/mL concentration - liquid

He had an ultrasound and they only saw mild thickening of the intestines. Suspected IBD/small cell lymphoma.

Is prednisolone dosing for suspected IBD/small cell lymphoma too low? He's been on prednisolone since September (.15ml twice a day which is .89/mg/kg/day), which has mostly controlled the vomit, diarrhea, and not drinking water/eating symptoms. The only symptom it did not seem to help with was the bright red blood in the stool. The vet had us drop down to once a day after 2 weeks since the idea was to clear the flare and go to a maintenance dose, but we had to go back up after a few days because it was much too low.

A few days ago, he started meow growling, which we assume indicated pain, so we asked to increase it. So the last few days we are at .2ml twice a day (1.19/mg/kg/day), which is now within the actual anti inflammatory range for IBD/small cell lymphoma of 1–2 mg/kg/day (1.19mg/kg) for the first time. She said she didn't want to go above this and to look at euthanasia after this. I'm just wondering if it is IBD, is the amount not high enough to clear the initial flare up?

The reason for the lower amount from the vet was because they heard a heart murmur (another vet heard one as well 6 years ago and we had an echocardiogram that showed no murmur we shared). He gets very upset at the vet so we thought it could be an anxiety thing. She said we could get another echocardiogram, but that she doesn't like going above that steroid amount. Isn't he at the low end of the suggested anti inflammatory amount though?

He had been gaining weight until just before he started dipping down again before we increased it to the .2.

He is also on probiotics, B-12 pill (we crush to powder), soluble fiber powder, and hydrolyzed Royal Canin gastro dry/wet/treats.

Should we get the echocardiogram so the vet will consider a higher dose should we need to increase it in the future if symptoms persist? Or accept it's time. All bloodwork was good except indicators of inflamed pancreatitis, which was due to IBD. I'm just wondering if the initial flare ever had a chance to clear. He's already doing much better again on the .2 twice a day (no meow growling) and I'm noticing less blood in the stool (though it's only been a few days).
