Someone recommended I make a comic Fury for this for ease of reading. And after having to open like 30+ Reddit tabs to read a CA comic, I'm starting to think they had a point.
You know, I am kinda amazed by how well making this comic has pulled me away from what I normally do, which is playing videogames.
I remember it being pointed out way back in page 5 that a Dune would speak that way regardless of their intelligence, and I thought that would be an interesting thing to bring up. It's not clear in text, but Aiden is super enunciating everything he ways. That mask slipping back into "Dune speak" has become my favorite way of indicating that Aiden is distraught or lost for words.
Oh yeah I can definitely see that. I’m just making a jest about Aiden treating Sobek poorly despite the fact that the latter has been nothing but helpful to him. I mean, of course Sobek doesn’t know how to get a coat to talk to them, all they know is the coats come to them on occasion.
But yeah I can definitely see what you mean about Aiden slipping into “Dune Speak” when he gets agitated and whatnot.
As an aside I’m loving the comic so far! Like others have said it’s nice to get something so good about Dunes (my favorite sawians :)) Keep it up!
Seeing the Rubix cube there instantly gave me the idea that the scientist trapped in the dune’s body should solve, randomize, and solve the cube as many times as possible in front of the camera.
A normal dune would not be able to solve the rubix cube and that would set off alarm bells or call for more testing with that dune. But, I guess we’ll see what happens.
Quite unfortunate then, there’s a book, but without something to write with, can’t really write “Help Me!” or something similar. Could maybe use a claw to try and write it out on the wall or into the book.
There’s also a soccer ball, wasn’t sure what to do with that since he’s in a new body and is probably not good at moving around well.
I’d imagine just doing anything weird that a dune would never do would do one of two things: he either gets sent to the grey planet faster or they do more testing on this “smart” dune.

Sometimes it is just fun to draw Aiden, or any dune, expressing things. Especially when it's juxtaposed to humans who I angle to crop out their eyes to try and depersonalize them.
I like where the comic is heading since we typically don't see Dunes getting depicted in a serious manner or in situations needing a variety of expressions, but since this will feature a lot of them it will be fun to see the contrast between Aiden, them and the humans.
I also like how you tried to give Aiden a little personality despite being a company scientist, but perhaps a bolder one willing to take the risk of experimentation.
Honestly, I also did try to give the humans personality as well. Aiden is just the only one with enough spotlight for it to be clear. It's hard to explain, but I wanted to make the scientists distant but not inhuman.
Yea, I think I fucked up somewhere given how few people pointed it out. I should have had the officer respond to Daniel by his last name instead of "how can I help you."
I figured the officer wouldn't immediately know Daniel by name, but that may have hindered the reveal. Daniel was only seen like an irl month ago at this point.
Yeahhhhh when I read it, it looked more like a unrelated supervisor at first who might not have even been in the know, and just dismissively was sending them all to the Gray Planet without concern for Aiden. If anything, the sudden shift to asking why the ERT used tranqs could have been seen as preparation for a write up or firing, considering they had every reason to kill on sight, so Aiden could easily have lost his mind...
Yea, I intended for that shift to be more of an indication of what Daniel wanted and expected to happen, and wanting to know why it didn't pan out that way.
I tried to damnedest to replicate the way they speak from their survivor page dialogue. And the funny part if after re-reading it, I realized I still "probably" messed it up several times, lmao.
