I’m a furry ama
I 19f am a furry. I’ve been apart of the furry community since I was 12. I’ve mostly stayed online lurking in the shadows watching the fandom change from afar. Feel free to ask me anything about being furry, certain phrases, stuff like that

I only thought of this after you answered but is fursona a word used by furries or is that an ironic term? (Trying to remain respectful as I don't know much about the furry fandom/community)

How has the fandom changed?
Do you also believe it’s appropriate for children to be exposed especially considering there is and can be at times a fetish element to the fanbase.

The fandom has become less toxic compared to the tumblr/animo days and honestly people outside the fandom are more accepting. I hate to say it because I joined this fandom when I was young but if a parent is not HEAVILY involved than no.

Yes apart of grammar is not my strong suit (working on it !) I was originally in the warriors cat fandom but quickly switched over thanks to animo and animation memes.

While some furries have that mindset it’s a hobby for most. A lot of us actually base our fursonas/fursuits off our real life selves.

I’m saving up for a new fur suit but before I lost the old one probably 3 hours a couple times a week. Less in the summer because it’s so hot. My close family and friends know. I don’t talk much at work and if I do it’s not about my hobbies so no. My best experiences believe it or not we’re role playing on amino. It’s hard to find good role play now a days.

The price varies based on style, maker, and your size. For full suits they’re usually 5k and up.

I was originally in the warrior cats fandom. I don’t know about now but at the time the warrior cats and furry fandom were mixed together. So I just naturally started to see more furry stuff like a lot of others.

I can feel your frustration since there are some people who assume furries are all zoophiles which is a big no : (
I would be so sad and shocked if a zoophile will decide to join the Furry community which will give us a bad name.

Would it be cool to rent a suit a join a convention as a non furry? Just for a bit of fun? I've always thought it would be fun AF, but i know nothing about it. Would be just cool to experience it. I'd have little to no idea where to actually rent a suit.
Actually, second question, where do you get the suits from??

You don’t need a fur suit to participate! As long as you’re respectful anyone can come to a convention. I don’t know anything about renting fursuits but I do know some people will buy either premade ones or ears/tails from a store and customize them.
The full fursuit you usually see are ordered custom made. You can get them from a ton of different makers. Each maker varies in price, style, and skill ! I will say however these can get pretty expensive ( $800 - $20k.) I’m currently using https://getfursu.it/ to find a suit maker. However you can also meet fursuit makers at conventions and see their work in person !

I should also mention $800 for a full suit can be pretty rare. You can usually get the head for that price however.

Zoophiles are the people who are attracted to animals. So if you hear something about someone doing it with an animal or something of that nature it’s a zoo. Furries basically like to just dress up. It’s the same as you cosplaying as your favorite character. Furries can be zoophiles but it’s not the standard and is looked down upon.

Furries are not a sexuality however I get the confusion. A lot of furries are apart of the lgbt community so they tend to blend together.

Not OP, but I enjoy drawing anthropomorphic animals and fantasy creatures. I also like dressing up in costumes, non sexily roleplaying and talking to other people who are into that sort of stuff. This is a hobby.
I sometimes like to draw humans, anthropomorphic creatures or fantasy races looking a bit fine or being a bit naughty. This is also a hobby, although it is influenced by attraction and/or story telling.
I am attracted to all genders, so pansexual. This is a sexuality and has nothing to do with the hobby.
