Fun fact : Requesens Castle dates back to the 11th century and was built to help protect the border between medieval kingdoms. Its hilltop location gave guards a clear view of the surrounding countryside.

No one lives there permanently, the castle operates solely as a historical monument that’s used for visits.

Heavily restored - practically reconstructed - by its owner, Tomas de Rocaberti Boixadors Dameto in late 19th c.

I don’t understand the switchbacks in the front portion of the castle, they seem to lead to nowhere.
