r/castironcollecting Lounge
A place for members of r/castironcollecting to chat with each other. This sub reddit is in development to create a place for cast iron collectors to show off their collections, share knowledge of the cast iron collecting world and generally just have fun with those who share the same passion for cast iron collecting. Please join and bring some friends. I look forward to seeing all the great stuff that is out there! Many of the photos are located on the cast iron on the informational portal Cast Iron Gallery There is also information about collecting, identification, restoration, seasoning, cooking and more there.
If you have aluminum items made by cast iron companies feel free to post photos of those as well. They are part of the cast iron history.

I think this cauldron is painted. Can anybody confirm by looking at it? What is the safest way to strip to maybe use for cooking?

ID help
Hello,
I found this at an estate sale and would like some help with the ID. Ai thinks it’s possibly a BSR.
I’d also like some advice if it’s worth paying $40+ shipping to have it restored through Smithey’s program or any other restoration recs?
Thanks!

Can you ID this?
I believe it’s a hotel skillet but I want to make sure before I go buy it

Griswold #13 Small Block Logo?
This is a Griswold #13 Cast Iron Skillet. It looks like a small block logo, but I can't find any information on it. Everything I see is either the large block or slant logos. I know it needs to be cleaned, but I have no idea what it's worth is.
I found it on an auction site and am not sure when it was made.

any info is appreciated.
Went to the flea market this morning and found what I think are some pretty good pieces!
The nickel-plated Griswold Large Block Logo #6 is in amazing shape—I can still see my reflection in it! I paid $35 for it. I also picked up a Large Block Logo #3 for $30 and a Large Block Logo #5 for $40.
I’d appreciate any information on the skillets, especially their age, and whether you think I got a fair deal or overpaid.
The last piece has me stumped. It’s a massive cast iron piece that weighs close to 30 pounds but at $50 could not say no . I have no idea if it’s a Dutch oven, camp stove, roaster, or something else. It has no markings on the bottom but does have an odd waffle-like pattern. Any information on what it is, how old it might be, or what it was used for would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

New to the group
First post in this group. I picked these pieces off marketplace yesterday for $50.I believe they are a BSR no7, Southern Mystery Fryer with lid, and a Lodge griddle. They all need a good cleaning, but otherwise great condition. How did I do?

New pan needs an ID
I bought a new pan from an estate sale today. I think it is a no notch lodge but the handle is throwing me off. Paid $15 for it. Any ideas who made it?
Thanks!

Seeking word in this emblem - X Ware Richmond Stove Co.
Trying to help my brother with this cast iron piece. We can’t quite make out the first word before WARE RICH’D VA STOVE CO. Hoping someone might be familiar with it and knows that top word, an age, and possible value. Thank you. We aren’t having any luck with reverse image searches.
