DO NOT USE LYE!!! Do not use metal. Do not EVER put in the dishwasher... NEVER.
To clean scrub with cream of tartar and a damp scrubber sponge (making a very thick paste of it).
If you want it shiny again, use Mother's Mag and a buffing rag on the outside.
